She comes across as so articulate and polished. The belly cupping was a bit OTT, but the dress and her hair were fab. Feel for her, she has been getting such bad press recently.

So what if she's cradling her bump more than you'd like, it's instinctive and why shouldn't she be proud of it??

If it's 'instinctive' then the vast majority of women must be pretty good at controlling their instincts. I've not been pregnant myself but I've been around many women who have and I have never ever seen a woman hold her belly like that. Stroke her belly, maybe, but hold it up with both hands for several minutes? At a "work" event? Never once.

iced the bespoke Givenchy gown was likely gifted!

Serious breach of protocol if so. The 'royals' are not allowed to accept freebies.

NaiceShoes · 12/12/2018 19:33

People are INSANELY jealous of the duchess. The comments on twitter are horrendous. One poster actually wrote that they wish she had fallen on her bum as she walked on the stage. So hate-filled and hysterical. It's her own fucking body, she can touch it if she wants. If I were her I'd walk around stroking it all day long to really ruin all the haters' days.

CaroloftheBalls · 12/12/2018 19:34

The hair looked like she’d forgotten to do it properly after scraping it back out of the shower while she did her make up.

In her speech she said that she’d recently read an article which stated XYZ.

Well someone has done a search for that article and guess what - nothing exists. She made it up.

CaroloftheBalls · 12/12/2018 19:36

@Heyjudas she was cutting in photos before, during, after she was on stage, and backstage!

Beenoutedformyhobby · 12/12/2018 19:44

She does that anyway.
Tbh she's walked right into a role where she knows there's a convention, but thinks fuck it ignores it anyway. She knows she will behave as she wants and nobody will stop her.
Feminism is not marrying a prince and giving up your job. To stand and act as an inspiration for women's achievement is hipocritical. Feminists don't hang onto their husbands for dear life.
The shoulderless dress at Rememberance Sunday was totally disrespectful, but hey ho as long as people are paying attention to her anything goes and stuff the Royal tradition

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 12/12/2018 19:55

excessive belly cupping

MN has the dubious honour of having produced a new standard to measure women against Hmm

What an awful thread. People begrudging a first-time mother cradling her bump. Well done you Hmm

SoupDragon · 12/12/2018 20:03

Dear god. Bitching about her touching her bump really is scraping the barrel of things to criticise about MM.

NaiceShoes · 12/12/2018 20:05

You have no fucking idea what she thinks. Mind your own business and get a life.

Do you know how ridiculous you sound? Like some weird stalker. Hmm

loveisanopensore · 12/12/2018 20:17

"The shoulderless dress at Rememberance Sunday was totally disrespectful, but hey ho as long as people are paying attention to her anything goes and stuff the Royal tradition"

But she wasn't wearing a shouldered dress at Remembrance Sunday.

Beenoutedformyhobby · 12/12/2018 20:17

Ok meghan
When you marry a prince on international tv having one guest you kind of invite people into your business. Everything she does is a deliberate statement. Including how she holds her bump.
What Meghan wants Meghan gets.
Btw, definitely not jealous.

NaiceShoes · 12/12/2018 20:18

I believe you 🙄

loveisanopensore · 12/12/2018 20:18

Shoulderless i mean

EdWinchester · 12/12/2018 20:21

She did look gorgeous.

She is very stylish and interesting. I think she's a breath of fresh air.

Beenoutedformyhobby · 12/12/2018 20:24

Sorry. Trooping the colour.
It's not LA

CaroloftheBalls · 12/12/2018 20:26

@NaiceShoes Why? For reading a news article and sharing it on here? Okayyyy.

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 12/12/2018 20:27

But she wasn't wearing a shouldered dress at Remembrance Sunday

But now it's been said and people will remember it. The lie has gone round the world before the truth gets out of bed.

GCAcademic · 12/12/2018 20:34

I liked her until she wore that engagement dress which cost £56,000. How you can square that with making sure you're photographed with a "Make Poverty History" bag is beyond me. Unless your humanitarianism is merely performative.

HSarah · 12/12/2018 20:46

@GCAcademic My thoughts exactly. She's just a huge disappointment in terms of humanitarianism.

The excessive stroking and cupping of her bump is unprofessional and attention seeking.

IcedPurple · 12/12/2018 20:50

She's just a huge disappointment in terms of humanitarianism.

But did you really expect much from her?

Her 'humanitarianism' consisted of a few bland speeches and a few all-expenses-paid junkets. With photographers present.

HSarah · 12/12/2018 20:51

@IcedPurple She talked a good game. It appears it was mostly PR.

Beenoutedformyhobby · 12/12/2018 20:53

Kate was so graceful and elegant with her pregnancies. Dressed respectfully, yes she rubbed the bump occasionally but this is not that.
See the dm selfies with same fake bump cupping reminiscent of the kardashians

IcedPurple · 12/12/2018 20:53

Honestly, to me it always seemed like PR. "Humanitarian" is a very fashionable label, and one that isn't terribly difficult to obtain. Angelina Jolie wannabe.
