Any gamers? Will a cheap controller work on the switch?

I can’t affor £60 odd for a Nintendo pro controller for the switch but have seen some on eBay that says they’re for the Nintendo.... at £20... how likely is it they will actually work??

Are you sure they're switch controllers (not Wii, WiiU, N64, etc)? Read the product description, not the name as they tend to throw a load of words into the name so it shows up on search results.

The switch wired controllers are a lot cheaper than the Pro, which is wireless, about £20 sounds right.

I’d get a named wired controller like the one Sir has linked. We have one and it’s great.

We bought a couple of blag wii controllers from eBay back in the day, they were fine tbh. But if it’s for a gift I’d rather go for a real one.

I need to get wireless due to lay out of room and distance from the tv (dc is autistic and has to sit in the sofa to play!) the wireless one on eBay is from China from a uk seller... should I avoid? Ad seems fine, says it’s for a switch with charging cable..

If they’ve got a return policy I’d go for it.

Ilmb · 12/12/2018 20:33

Yeah? Being Chinese would be ok? People say joy to buy Chinese phone chargers etc?

The wii controllers we got were from China. DIdn't have a problem with them, so while I can't be 100% certain I'd do it.

Is it fire you're concerned about...? It's not a charging device so it should be fine. And if it isn't, ask for a refund.

There are third party Switch controllers available from reputable places like GAME and Tesco. I'd go there rather than buying off eBay sellers.

SegmentationFault · 13/12/2018 07:38

If it's from China, it might take a while to come. Could be worth paying a few more pounds for a UK based seller. Or try somewhere like CeX if you don't mind second hand.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 13/12/2018 09:12

Yes that’s true it will take a while.

CeX may not be as cheap though as the switch is still a current console.

Ilmb · 13/12/2018 17:33

No it’s deciniteky a uk seller, it just says on the listings origin is China...?

They’ll be drop shipping from China, there’s no way they’ll be in the U.K.

Buy third part from a reputable seller, Game for example. Or buy preloved from somewhere like CEX.
