This is a new one for me...

(Looking after a poorly DD who is snoozing so I’m clearly making the most of my time!)

I had a helicopter the other day... a coastguard one nonetheless. Even screen shot and shared it to my husband.

For those interested, Simfest World flight is great. We watched it a few weeks back. They flew round the world in 7 days, none-stop in a flight simulator... very amusing viewing and for a worthyh cause. They raised approx £38k this year for a elderly charity.

Trying to find info on their Santa flight which my husband informs me is this weekend.

MulticolourMophead · 11/12/2018 13:49

It's a new one for me, too.

I like looking at the helicopters on the app, with the moving rotors. You don't see the rotors on the desktop site.

italiancortado · 11/12/2018 14:01

That's a brilliant find.

XX154 was the first hawk. It's 44 years old.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 11/12/2018 14:03

The same company have got another odd one up now, I’ve also spotted a couple of Falcons over the last two days

The falcons will be the Cobham ones that the RAF use for training. Often found over the North Sea.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 11/12/2018 14:08

These have been doing loops around the Cornish / Devon coastline.

I’ve just spotted a Falcon 8x which has taken off from Northolt, heading south over Brighton area.

italiancortado · 11/12/2018 14:19

I can't find that one!

That is OY-NEW owned by charter company Air Alsie

SandunesAndRainclouds · 11/12/2018 14:31

Ah, ok. I thought as it’d taken off from an RAF base it’d be a military plane.

I really should be doing something more constructive...

My DS is going on a school trip to NY next year, I'm looking forwards to tracking his flight Grin

Sarahandduck18 · 12/12/2018 04:18

Almost never see a military aircraft on FL24, wonder what this one was doing?

First one is an RAF Hawk from Boscombe.

The other one is probably on a training flight, nothing exciting

italiancortado · 12/12/2018 06:08

sarah that's a really common spot on FR24 - it's the RAF voyager. It's a refuelling aircraft.

italiancortado · 12/12/2018 06:11

kathy. There are no RAF hawks?

MulticolourMophead · 12/12/2018 10:39

I notice the London Air Ambulance is up. I always mentally keep my fingers crossed when I see one of those up.

MulticolourMophead · 12/12/2018 10:40

I think it just landed, I don't see it now.

slalomsuki · 12/12/2018 10:54

Sarah it's definitely a refuelling flight and goes up every day, sometimes over the North Sea too.

I live near an airbase and hear loads of flights take off daily but they are never on flight radar. When you drive past you can see some are overseas planes.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 12/12/2018 11:42

The first one was unusual in its icon, rather than its type.

I live about an hour away from Gatwick and sometimes the DC like to see which plane is going overhead, where it has come from etc. It passes 5 minutes at least!

@italiancortado There are! There's some based at RAF Leemimg!

Mummylife2018 · 12/12/2018 13:41

Er, Leeming

italiancortado · 12/12/2018 14:28

mummy

I'm not sure what you mean?

italiancortado · 12/12/2018 14:29

OP the first one was slightly unusual, it was the first hawk. Ever.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 12/12/2018 15:56

Oh I didn’t know that it was the first Hawk!

Couple of Falcons been ‘playing’ off the north east coast earlier today. I’m sure there were loop-the-loops on the map Wink

Oh i truly love planes people tell me I'm one step to being a train spotter. Went to Heathrow a while back and stopped in a hotel on the runway view honestly thought i had died and gone to heaven!
