Cheaper alternative to Fitbit?

Can anyone recommend some sort of Fitbit type watch without the price tag? Trying to track exercise/calories burnt/sleep etc. I have an iphone, not sure if that makes a difference when it comes to syncing.
On a side note: what does the Fitbit actually do to justify the price? Does it do any more than the above?

I have a Miband 2 and i love it. Much cheaper than Fitbit.

I’ve had a Fitbit for 3 years (upgraded). The reason fitbits are worth having is because other people have fitbits...different versions have different information, I think they all count steps and distance, most do flights of stairs, mine is a Charge 2 HR which does Heart rate, you can track runs (it uses your phone GPS), set it up to do intervals. If you link with friends you can compete in challenges to see who does the most steps over a week/weekend. It definitely motivates me to exercise more!

I think the jawbone is similar and cheaper but my friend had one, had loads of problems and their customer service wasn’t great. I’ve had issues with a Fitbit in the past and the customer service was excellent - they sent me a new strap for free within a couple of days.

Miband here too, it's the 3 and was about £20 on Amazon, no problems with it so far

I’d get a second hand Fitbit. They don’t normally break very easily and it’ll be significantly cheaper as a lot of people give up on them.

I'd really try and get a Fitbit, there should be a lot of charge 2s around as the 3 has recently been released.

I had a number of different ones - Speedo shine and jawbones but they all died. I've had my Fitbit for over a year with no problems at all.

If you just want a basic band i.e. heart rate , sleep, steps , time and date then get thee on Amazon. There's loads ranging from about a tenner up to the most expensive Fitbits etc. Have a look , it will at least give you an idea of what's out there and you can check out the reviews

I have fitbit and recommend it. However, I have heard good things about MiBand too ... if cost is a concern I'd start with that and see how useful you find it.

FairfaxAikman · 11/12/2018 18:48

My Fitbit is a lot harder wearing than my Jawbone ever was - I went through three of those in a year as they kept failing (Jawbone replace FOC).

dangermouseisace · 11/12/2018 18:58

I’ve got a garmin. Mine’s an expensive one but they do a wide range. I wear it all the time, and run a lot. If you run garmins are far superior to fitbits and generally cheaper.

Great thank you. I might get a Miband for now and if I really love it and keep using it I might go for a Fitbit later on. Thanks all for the advice!
