Sending whiskey to California

Belleende · 10/12/2018 10:50

I want to send a bottle of Irish whiskey to California. If I ship from here the shipping costs and tax are £££. I have tried a few websites that look like they ship from the states to the states, but the same thing happens. Any tips on how to do this most cost effectively?

I'd find a liquor store near to where the recipient lives and call them. If they stock Irish Whiskey and want the sale, they'll sort it out for you.

They sell Irish Whiskey across the States. Just use a US company.

Don't send from abroad, i tried 3 times and a bottle was returned!

Check the laws first. Some states you cant ship alcohol in to. I live in Mass and cant have it shipped but my son lives in NewHampshire and can so different rules for each state

Find an American site and buy and ship from there or get an e gift voucher. Try BevMo. You will have to pay California sales tax and shipping which will be added at the point of checkout but it'll probably still work out cheaper than trying to ship from Europe.

Makes me laugh every time I cross the border into NH and the first thing you see is the state liquor store Grin

AHH the state laws thing makes sense now. It just seems so ridiculously difficult in the age of Amazon et Al. The best I can find is a local liquor store and get my sister in law to pick it up. What a faff
