Anyone else hate having a larger chest?

I don't know if I will ever go through with having a reduction but I am so, so sick of my boobs and I have been ever since I hit puberty. They were always been bigger than my peers' and attracted comments throughout school and now seem to have settled at around 34G, which I appreciate isn't all that big compared to some people.

I absolutely cannot, for the life of me, find a bra that is comfortable. I make do during the day but can't bear to wear one inside the house or I can't relax. The problem is, when I do take my bra off, I can feel them hanging off my body and pressing on my stomach. The feeling disgusts me and I want to rip them off. When I'm lying in bed or curled up on the sofa I feel these heavy sacks hanging off my chest and getting in my way. I have backache most days and the feeling of relief when I hold them up is immense.

I dress like a frump and have done since I was about 13. I can't wear a anything with a low neckline, a high neckline, backless, too tight, too baggy, with thin straps. I hate leaving the house because it involves getting dressed, and that involves finding something to stuff my boobs into. They have been saggy since they appeared so I've felt like an old woman since I was a young teenager.

I feel so jealous when I see women with small boobs because it's something I will never have, and have never had basically since I was in primary school.

Thanks for listening to my rant. I'm feeling particularly down about it today and feel like I want to go and claw them off. Anyone else feel similarly?

32j here. I don’t hate them as much as find them pointless. I don’t like them being touched (tmi?) and they didn’t produce any milk (honestly a million people tried to help me) so completely worthless when I had my children (except as a comfy pillow).

Bravissimo do an amazing service over the phone. They will talk you through the fitting and assuming you can afford the initial outlay will send you lots of bras to try and then take them all back. They used to have a 1 year no quibble returns policy.

My boobs are the same size as Christina Hendricks. I just don’t quite wear them like she does.

keepingbees · 10/12/2018 07:04

@caddywally I have 3 children, I went up a cup size or two with each pregnancy and they never went back down. I breastfed too which made them heavy and painful. That went when feeding stopped but the size stayed the same.
I don't have a bravissimo near me, or anywhere decent. I wear panache and Freya bras from an outlet shop where they measure you, but none of them are comfortable. I've tried all different cupped and supportive swimwear and none of it fits right.

Veterinari · 10/12/2018 07:24

Use Pepperberry online

Genie bras (from amazon) are great for a bit of support around the house or when sleeping (I remove the ‘pad’)

Exercises to strengthen your back and shoulders.

I feel your pain 34GG and size 12 with the exception of my boobs.
They’re a huge inconvenience for activity and I look matronly in all clothes

Sarahandduck18 · 10/12/2018 07:31

You need to just go to bravissimo or rigby and pellar even if it means hours of travel or an overnight stay!

That’s a lots less hassle than surgery!

Given your problems you probably are wearing the wrong size.

You are also probably more conscious of them than other people are.

Buy pepper berry clothes- they are fit for big boobs.

Wear v necks, wrap over dresses, scarves, open cardis over tops, draw attention to your legs.

This isn’t an impossible issue to overcome.

AnotherEmma · 10/12/2018 07:33

" I just tried BOB and apparently am a 30JJ"
So if you're wearing 34G that's two band sizes too big.
Try a 30 band and do the backwards band test (put it on backwards and see how far you can pull it out).
Some brands come up big or small in the band so you might find a big 30 or a small 32 is the best fit.
You need to get the band right and then you look at cup size.

If I were you I'd make the trip to a Bravissimo, it's worth it. You're obviously feeling very low about your breasts so you need to treat yourself to bras that fit properly.

Get some wired bras that make your boobs look amazing. And get some soft bras that are really comfy for wearing around the house. I recommend the Sugar Candy soft cup bra (sold at bravissimo and various online shops) and the Kindred Bravely bras on Amazon if you want sleep bras.

anniehm · 10/12/2018 07:40

I was fed up with them and not being able to buy nice clothes until I discovered bravissimo - I now have fitted dresses that accommodate my 34f's! For bras Debenhams is my preferred place for decent brands but I've got really comfy ones from Asda (they have a small selection of non padded next to the packaged knickers that go to large sizes). I'm fortunate to have a specialist store near me but the brands they sell are cheaper in Debenhams or online. I tend to order from bravissimo online 2-4 outfits and keep 1-2 as some do fit better than others, not cheap but not designer prices either.

After seeing how fantastic holly willoughby looks after her breast reduction

Is that true-I didn’t know she’d had a reduction?!

florriepeck · 10/12/2018 09:16

I thought Holly had just lost weight, and it had gone from her boobs.

MIdgebabe · 10/12/2018 09:35

So I just looked at the prima Donna web site. £80. No sports bras in my size at all (30 as big as you can find) in fact only one bra full stop in my size. Rugby pallor said they don’t do anything that small in the back. Bravissimo is the only option but I would like to be comfortable. so fed up of having either red pressure lines or rubbing to bleeding under the boobs . I would love to be able. To run or swim.

Glad I am not alone here

Buggeroffalo · 10/12/2018 09:56

I have had an accidental boob reduction. Accidental as in I have breast cancer and had a therapeutic mammoplasty. I’ve had my ‘bad’ breast reduced when they removed my tumours and I will have the other breast lifted to match when surgery is complete. Before I had children I was a 34dd then went up to a 36h during pregnancy and feeding then down to an uber saggy 34g afterwards.

So now I’m in the position of having one 34d perky tit and one 34g saggy one! And despite getting a post op infection I cannot tell you how utterly delighted I am with my new boob. So light! Nipple points upwards! I can’t wait until I get matched up and can wear all the flimsy spaghetti strap things and look elegant rather than matronly.

Admittedly breast cancer is a fairly extreme way to get a breast reduction! But honestly in your position I would seriously consider it. But perhaps wait until after you have your children?

Redbrook · 10/12/2018 10:04

For running try an Enell - it’s possibly the most ugly item of clothing ever made but it’s brilliant for running in. My 34gg boobs don’t move in it at all !

drspouse · 10/12/2018 10:08

There are a couple of FB groups that help with boob fitting, you could join under a new name if you're shy?
Fairy Boobmother is the one I'm in.
I am about your size (32F, but I'm trying to lose weight so I'm trying to go in a couple of notches before buying new ones), but I was in 36D until my mid-30s which was frankly ridiculous.

I now try and get flattering, rather than concealing, tops.

MIdgebabe · 10/12/2018 10:15

Thanks, although, Enell do not seem to cover my size, nothing goes within several inches of big enough with the smaller back sizes.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 10/12/2018 10:24

@caddywally also an apple post-children. I used to be hourglass shaped with chunky thighs - now, the weight is first to go from my legs and bum Confused I feel like I look like a barrel on stilts.

Ollivander84 · 10/12/2018 10:29

@MIdgebabe I'm a 32/34 JJ/K and wear elomi, bravissimo or Royce sports bras plus bikinis from brastop usually. Flirtelle bikinis often come up big in the cup I find as I size down

FinallyHere · 10/12/2018 10:31

I hear you and would absolutely encourage you to book a days holiday, go up to Rigby and Peller, as PP said even if it means hours of travel or an overnight stay!

The whole experience is literally life changing, knowing that there are bras, yes a range of them, to choose from changed my life. I first heard about them when June Kenton, the original owner, was quoted saying anyone thinking of a breast reduction should visit them first. Hope you manage to...

caddywally · 10/12/2018 14:31

I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and travel somewhere to get a proper fitting. Quite a few of you have said it's life changing!

OP posts:
MrsBobtonTrent · 10/12/2018 14:55

Do it! Mine look and feel smaller since I was properly fitted in person. And once you’ve got one that fits, you can scout about online for cheaper deals.

caddywally · 10/12/2018 15:20

MrsBobtonTrent Where did you get fitted? Is Bravissimo as good as Rigby & Peller?

OP posts:
Thatsalovelycuppatea · 10/12/2018 15:24

I'm getting fed up of mine. I'm a 32dd but one of them is becoming quite painful. Whatever bras I try, nothing seems to be very supportive after a few 'washes'....

caddywally · 10/12/2018 15:30

Thatsalovelycuppatea Fortunately, I don't have much trouble with my bras retaining their shape - they're just never any good to begin with! Where do you gets yours from?

OP posts:
ineedwine99 · 10/12/2018 15:31

To those having surgery, i had it at 20, was amazing! Unfortunately turns out they hadn't stopped growing so came back after a couple of years :-(
If i had the money i'd get it done again tomorrow.
You'll need a good sports bra after the op to hold everything in place! Also bio oil on the scars!
For now i'm with the rest of you in desperate need of a good bra, non wired ideally as they hurt my ribs

Frozenteatowel · 10/12/2018 15:40

Mine are a millstone around my neck so to speak. They developed quickly when I was about 12 and immediately just headed south They’ve never been perky and are really heavy. I’m 32 FF and am 5’ . I feel like a boob on a stick. I never look elegant, getting shirts, dresses, coats and jackets to fit is really hard because I’m so out of proportion. I wish I’d saved up and had a reduction years ago but at 58 I don’t feel it’s worth the risk and pain and I can’t afford it anyhow as I’m not working.

DoraNora · 10/12/2018 15:51

@caddywally having tried both over the last ten years (finding these shops was a revelation if an expensive one for a student), I actually much prefer Bravissimo. R&P has beautiful bras but I've found fitters varied in how good they were. Bravissimo IME are better, particularly as they specialise in the large of boob.

The biggest discovery for me when I found them was the difference the shape of my boobs made. There are a few styles of bra that don't suit my boobs and make wearing them very painful, even though they are technically the right size.

Planning my own trip to Bravissimo on Thursday, as now 36 weeks pregnant and need some nursing bras ...

Kemer2018 · 10/12/2018 15:54

I hate mine. They went from 34b to 34dd 12 years ago and I've never adjusted.
They make me look matronly and i have no idea how to dress the bloody things, apart from no round necks.
A vest used to look nice...now it looks porno. Wish i could have them reduced.
I'm a reserved person....big tits don't work for me.
