Just that really! Was thinking along the lines of Sophie la giraffe or Lamaze but it's been a few years since I had a 6m old. Ideas appreciated!

A lot of toys are labelled 6+month which would be a good place to start. Sophie la giraffes are good, my teething baby likes chewing hers

my favorite for that age is the Tomy eggs. i have just bought some for our new arrivals to the family this year.

DS 7 months just received some rattles and a ball which lights up when you tap it. Both are winners. Board books he’s not so interested in except for chewing!

A first Christmas type plush toy. Clothes, shape sorter or similar to use in coming months. Treasure box

At 6 months my son was just into chewing things really. The exceptions were balls, so you can play passing back and forth, and building blocks, so you can build a tower for them to knock down. A board book with flaps to lift is a good idea too. There's a very simple one with durable felt flaps and a mirror in the back called 'Where's Mr Unicorn' that would be perfect for that age.

Bath toys have always had good staying power for us.

Id get clothes in the next size up

Seconding the Tomy Eggs - I buy these for any baby between about 6-12 months, and they are played with for years.

CrazyOldBagLady · 09/12/2018 20:52

Just thought of another couple of things that have been popular.

Jingle stick Good for chewing and shaking about.

Light up batons Still going strong. You can get these as just balls too that light up when they bounce.

Projector lamp Quite mesmerising for little ones.

Personally I'd stay clear of clothes unless you know the parents tastes. I've had a few gifts of clothing that we haven't used as I just didn't like them.

His mum is a goth so I'm not doing clothes at all 😂

We also have the lolly moulds linked to above and we are very happy with them. I blend fruit and yoghurt and they are definitely welcome when teething.
