Student DS has been lucky enough to get a Christmas job in the local supermarket. Tomorrow is is induction, they said they would email him with dress code, what to bring etc - but no email has arrived.

Any advice?

He needs to phone them v early tomorrow morning.

He can phone the supermarket. The person who answers the phone will probably have been through a similar induction so can let him know or her can ask to speak to Manager.

Is it not open now?

Extrastout · 09/12/2018 18:58

I'd say dress smartly, bring a pen and paper, and maybe passport.

What everyone else has said plus

Bank details so they can pay him
National insurance number

Induction will likely be a bunch of H&S/manual handling/customer service videos (worked in a supermarket many moons ago). He will need proof of being able to work in the UK (presuming that's where you are), so his passport or driving licence or similar proof will be necessary.
Also as the PP said, his bank details and NI#. They need all that stuff for payroll.
I wouldn't say dress in a suit, but definitely not in jeans and a hoodie.
And well done to your ds for getting his first job!

My first real job as a student was in a supermarket! It's good wages for a student.

Minta85 · 09/12/2018 19:14

Has the email gone into his junk folder by any chance?

Bejazzled · 09/12/2018 19:16

Hi thanks all. 👍

The 'office' side of it is closed, and he's to be there for 9am.
He's going to wear the same trousers and shirt he wore for the interview (his only trousers and shirt as everything else is jeans t shirts and hoodies 🙂) and has his NI card/bank details/notebook
I'm just pleased for him as he's tried numerous times and been unlucky - and it's 10 minutes from home so easy to get to as well!

Don't forget passport or proof of right to work, else he'll probably be sent home!

Bejazzled · 09/12/2018 19:21

He checked that Minta85 just in case 🙂

How was his first day?

Bejazzled · 10/12/2018 21:51

Thanks for asking - apparently lots of forms, health and safety, manual handling training. Issued with 'uniform' (that went down well lol) and asked to work a night shift on Friday night! Smile
