Is there anything worse than foot cramp?

Or anything nicer than someone giving uou a foot massage when you have cramp?
OK in reality I know most things are worse than foot cramp. But it's up there with a fly in your wine and sleeping in the wet patch.

Having cramp in the back of your thigh is worse than foot cramp. I've had both, and believe me,foot cramp is preferable! If I get cramp in my foot,I can usually relieve it fairly easily by pulling my foot upwards as far as it will go (i.e. toes pointing up towards my knee) and holding it in that position until it subsides. With thigh cramp, there is in thing I can do except scream and thrash about on the bed like a beached whale

I had calf cramp from straining when I gave birth the first time. I consider that it was worse than childbirth. Hobbling for a few days was my only after effect from labour. So yes, agree.
Just to be clear, my labour was straightforward. I wouldn't be saying this if I'd been through what some have I realise!

Calf cramp is definitely the worst bastarding cramp in the world.

StealthPolarBear · 09/12/2018 17:57

Oh sorry you said thigh. Never had it but if calf is worse than foot then it follows logically that thigh is even worse!

I remember once hobbling around a hotel room trying not to cry and not able to put my foot flat on the floor. My calf was rock solid, it was horrible.

I hate feeling a fluttering vein in my eyelid.

StealthPolarBear · 09/12/2018 18:04

Is that an eye tick? I get that a lot when I'm tired and stressed. Doesn't bother me other than the sensation of winking :o

Calf cramp is the worst!

Calf cramp is much worse!

DeadCertain · 10/12/2018 09:13

I get loads of cramp; horrible. One of the most painful and absolutely unpreventable things I have ever felt is sneezing when I had broken my back. I used to DREAD it. Agony and also made everyone laugh at me when it happened because it hurt so much!!

redsummershoes · 10/12/2018 09:23

feet are worse ime. calf is relieved by forcing foot onto floor. foot cramp only by walking up and down stairs.
toes when swimming pretty unpleasant as well.

mimibunz · 10/12/2018 09:28

Calf cramp is horrible! Always happens to be in the middle of the night.

spidey66 · 10/12/2018 09:49

Thigh cramp is the worst, as it's a larger muscle. First time I had it I was at a friend's, they nearly called an ambulance, convinced I was having a DVT!

caperplips · 10/12/2018 09:54

I hate all those cramps and can I add a cramp under the jaw bone as being my most hated.
Usually caused by yawning when cold (so a bit tense) it causes the muscles in the soft bit under your chin / jawbone to seize up. HATE that feeling as I always panic that it's lockjaw!

Calf cramp in the middle of the night when you’re 8 months pregnant!

I can’t even move to stretch it out! Last time I got it I elbowed DH in the shoulder blades, so no chance of a massage either 😂

MeetOnTheSIedge · 10/12/2018 09:55

Calf cramp is worse for me, foot cramp I can get rid of quite easily by flexing the foot, calf cramp requires me to leap out of bed.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 10/12/2018 09:56

Foot cramp is at least easy to relieve, you just pull up your toes and that usually stops it. Calf cramp hurts more but can be stretched out, although recently I’ve been getting a cramp across the front of my ankle while trying to stretch out the calf. I agree that thigh cramp is the worst as it almost always happens in bed and it’s nearly impossible to get out and stretch it.

One of the many reasons why I prefer winter to a hot summer.

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 10/12/2018 09:59

Yes calf cramp!

silentcrow · 10/12/2018 10:04

Shins. Oh my God. I get a lot of cramp in my feet - training martial arts on a freezing concrete floor means I get it on a weekly basis, always in the middle of being focused really hard on something complicated Hmm But never in my life have I had worse cramp than in my shins when I was pregnant with DD2. Even cramping from thigh to ankle in the middle of a long-distance swim was easier to deal with than the shins. I had to wake DH up to massage it out every time, sobbing in pain.

Girlzroolz · 10/12/2018 10:16

Somehow that initial weird twinge that warns you Cramp is Imminent is the worst bit. Your primal fear rockets, you panic that it’ll be a bad one and try so hard to head it off at the pass!

The pain seems to be that kind that stops you being able to tell people what’s happening. So no one can help you. Makes you feel so alone and vulnerable, even if it’s only a short duration. Ugh.

Since giving birth, I get one around my diaphragm area (the tummy one!). Only if I make specific leaning forward movements while I’m crouched down (like pulling a bin bag from under the sink). Excruciating. No way to stretch it out, just lie down panting and hope it ends.

And double-hope my DD doesn’t wander in and ask 50 rapid-fire questions about what I’m doing. With that level pain, I can’t promise I won’t blurt out ‘Well darling, it’s just one of the myriad interesting ways you fucked up mummy’s body by being born. Now run and get mummy a pillow while she convulses like a beached whale on the kitchen floor, there’s a good girl’.

TheRealJoseph · 10/12/2018 12:57
