Anyone know what this kind of latch is called? We had a lot of kids over today and the bolt bit that goes down through is missing. Could be anywhere. Just in case it doesn’t turn up and I have to resort to an eBay replacement, what is the latch called. Stable door latch comes up with a different thing altogether.

Try Googling stable door bolt, as opposed to latch.

Looks like a Monkey tail bolt

Brilliant thanks. Yes, bolt probably a better term and shesays, that looks just the thing, only ours hangs vertically rather horizontally. Will give it a couple of days to see if it shows up. Thanks, all.
