Ds 7 told me children in his class have been saying they are going to hack his computer.
He was very upset about this! I don't remember feeling this sort of intimidation until much older and having it in the virtual world must make it much more bewildering.
I told him to tell them to go ahead. And that they are just trying to make him uneasy and worry. They don't have the knowledge to do it as they are children like him. I also said that he needs to know that everything he puts online can be accessed by his teachers and us and that if he wants a private paper journal to ask me for one and he can keep it at home. Was this the right advice? Anything else I should do?
(Just to clarify about what he uses it for: He loves making slideshows with pictures of his favourite computer games, that's what he uses our family laptop for and always at the kitchen table)
Is this a common issue at this age?
