Skin breakouts

Wasn't exactly sure where to put this, hoping someone can help.

I've always had the occasional spot, never had really bad skin but the last couple of months my skin has been terrible. Big painful spots under the skin which I've felt I needed to squeeze to release the pressure but which Inevitably I've only made worse.

What on Earth is going on? One thing I have noticed is that my periods have started to come back very lightly although increasingly heavier. I have a Mirena (my third) and this one is around 3.5 years old. Does this mean it's wearing off? I can't keep going with skin like this.

Thanks in advance

How old are you? Is mirena contraception? That could play havoc with your hormones. Unfortunately, the reason why people break out is different for everyone. Sometimes contraception pills help and sometimes it makes it worse. If it does help, it only masks the problem. I had perfect skin until I was 18 and then started suffering bad breakouts. Painful pimples etc. I took me about 3 years of suffering and loads of research to finally figure it out. Anyone who suffers bad acne as an adult, it has to do with allergies or food intolerances. But the problem is its so difficult to find out the cause, as food can cause a delay for the pimples showing so it can take forever to figure it out. In the end I found out my triggers were linseeds, most seeds actually, nuts (esp peanuts), dark chocolate, too much candy, avocado, rice milk, soya milk. Oddly, food like mcdonalds did nothing to my skin. Anyway, once I stopped eating my triggers my face went clear. It took a few months for the scars to go. At my worse I would have several active painful pimples and loads of scars....literally a pizza face. I was able to cover with make up. Now my face is clear. But sometimes I do like to eat nuts. I can get away eating nuts for a day or two...any longer then the pimples come back. Peanuts make me break out on my back. Its crazy...but I can be totally clear and once I eat the nuts...(i love nuts!) they come back. Usually its the food you like and eat every day that is the culprit!

My spots are generally hormonal. It’s been a joy whilst pregnant 🙄

What helps me is to make sure I cleanse and tone my skin before bed. I also moisturise morning and evening because my skin is quite dry, and it needs to be balanced.

For the horrible under the skin spots, I use prid drawing solve - www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006NXRUPQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_GDedCbSNM5S6B?tag=mumsnetforum-21

I'm 39, for goodness sake, not a problem I'd have thought I'd be dealing with at my age. Mirena is hormonal but minimal as far as I know. Thanks for the food suggestion, it's a possibility obviously but I'd be surprised as it's come on so suddenly. We're talking about 3-4 spots a week but they take ages to go. I'll have a look at the salve, thank you.
