I reckon I'm going to stop overthinking but it might never happen!

OP posts:

I hope that i am going to change careers and conseqently not have the commute that I do.

I would like to continue running.

I would like to beat my books read total. This year I have managed 14, hopefully 15 soon! My target was 12 so I would like to up it more. And get my books from the library! (There is something lovely about a library book). I was a voracious reader before the dawn of smartphones.

I will not bleach my hair again. It has affected the condition.

sherrysfortea · 09/12/2018 09:50

Stop people pleasing

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 09/12/2018 10:04

Nothing, I'm perfect already.

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 09/12/2018 10:17

New job. I'm sick of being the one it's acceptable to treat like crap all the time.

MintyCedric · 09/12/2018 10:22

Spend and eat less.

Exercise and read more!

Mrsoh39 · 09/12/2018 10:32

Do more walking.
Sort the house more and be more tidier.
Get the kids out more.
Drink more water.

FullOnMonet · 09/12/2018 10:44

I'm with you OP. Stop over thinking. Went NC with family a couple of years ago & I'm still questioning the whole situation. It's no good for my MH & isn't going to change things so feel like I need to just accept the situation & make a mental fresh start.

ShotsFired · 09/12/2018 10:54

Try to be proactively happier, even if that is just maintaining a happy journal.

But more tangibly, be more active, continue improving at the gym. Try to be more social (a huge deal for me).

BubblesBubblesBubbles · 09/12/2018 10:56

2018 has been a shit year so I will be glad to leave it behind!

This coming year I’m going to clean up my financial situation (not in debt, dh has some credit card debt) I’m going to have a major overhaul and stop over spending and start saving.

Strict new budget coming in...I’m not sure how MrBubbles is going to feel about this he didn’t seem interested when I shoved it under his nose last week!!

I also need to shift 4 stone (told you bad year!!) so I will be starting up yoga again (£5 a week) I’m also looking into couch to 5k and starting to ride my bike again, and stopping all take away food I’ve counted up we have spent over 1k in 6 months Xmas Shock new meal plan starting.

My house is a shit tip so that’s going to be sorted out, one weekend a month we will do one room, decluttering and selling. Starting with the attic on the 12th Jan.

I’m also going to work on my mental health - a happy Bubbles will hopefully mean a happier home.

scaryteacher · 09/12/2018 10:59

Go home and not live in Belgium any more!

BadLad · 09/12/2018 12:52

Unlike some on here, it seems, I'm going to buy more.

For years I've put the vast majority of my spare cash into investments, but now I'm going to spend more of it.

I'd like to visit all the continents in a year, except Antarctica, so I might aim for that too.

MadameJosephine · 09/12/2018 12:58

Get a cleaner! She’s going to be coming once a fortnight starting in January.

HarrySnotter · 09/12/2018 13:03

Stop talking about my weight gain like it's someone else's fault.

I need to realise that I'm getting older and I no longer ping back into shape if I watch what I eat for a day or two. So I aim to do the following:

Eat a healthier diet.
Be more aware of portion control.
Get more exercise.
Drink less alcohol.
Stop buying stuff I won't wear.
Have more sex.
Get my mojo back.

There. Easy eh? 😉

goingonabearhunt1 · 10/12/2018 18:58

Try to reduce my sugar binges
Go to bed earlier
Drink less
Be more engaged at work

FiveShelties · 11/12/2018 01:56

What a fantastic thread.

I am going to try and do the following!

Drink less wine
Buy Less Stuff
Increase my steps from average of 10500 to 12000
Be more spontaneous
Be less of a control freak

Will update on 31st December 2019. Grin

Stupomax · 11/12/2018 02:35

I'm going to ski as much as possible.

BitOfFun · 11/12/2018 02:38

A lot, I hope. It might well be the last year I have of being vaguely well, after a recent diagnosis of Stage 4 breast cancer. I feel happy and loved, and I don't want to waste any time stressing about trivial shite.

FiveShelties · 11/12/2018 04:39

BitOfFun - I am sorry to read that and it certainly puts life in perspective - I have spent many hours worrying about stupid stuff, most of it never happened anyway.

Itsnotme123 · 11/12/2018 04:47

Buy a house and enjoy living.

proseccoaficcionado · 11/12/2018 04:56

Going to:
stop giving explanations/apologising.
Stop overthinking
Lose weight (1.5 stone)
be kinder to myself
Buy less of everything

Santasushi · 11/12/2018 05:07

Spend more time with my family.

Try to stop spending as much (I kid myself that I only buy second hand so it’s ok).

Stop being so stressed. It’s killing me.

AwkwardSquad · 11/12/2018 05:39

BitOfFun Flowers

I’m going to read more books, and take up yoga. Also continue to work on strengthening my boundaries.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/12/2018 18:29

Bitoffun - much love to you.

This is such a good thread.

I can't remember who mentioned the idea of being more pro-actively happy. It's a great one. Would love to know what people do towards this, other than journals which are definitely not for me.

Rayn · 11/12/2018 18:49

Instead of everyone trying to lose weight to be perfect maybe we should just try to have self acceptance.
However I am obese so ha e no choice but to lose weight for health!
I am past it for 'looking good' and have managed to put that insecurity to bed.
I want to manage money better and learn how to budget better.
I want to enjoy 'now' instead of looking to the future to be happy.

DMCWelshCakes · 11/12/2018 18:53

Stop eating pointless unhealthy food.
