What do you 'do' because of something you saw on a film or TV?

While trying to find a red marker pen yesterday (different story!) I found a small pouch with a jeweller's box inside. I peeked, it's a nice piece of jewellery, small and inexpensive but meaningful to me. I presume DH has bought it and poorly hidden it ahead of Christmas. But ...

I still remember Emma Thompson's character in Love Actually finding the necklace, and then her disappointment at opening the CD. WIBU to sneak a photograph of said jewellery, just in case I don't receive it as a gift at Christmas? Wink

Is there anything you do because of what you've seen happen to a character in a film or television show?

I plan to never go upstairs if I’m being chased by a bad guy

Finish my damn meal and drink. That shits expensive. No emergency trumps my posh dinner and cold glass of Chablis.

Fasten my bra at the back. Thanks to a film with Nicole Kidman in it that I watched years ago, and can never remember the name of to re-watch it Confused

I’d certainly never go into the dark, creepy attic/basement/cabin in the woods on my own with a dodgy torch. Seen way too many scary films for that to ever be a good idea!

I’d also never go off to war and start talking about what I’ll do when I get back home. That pretty much makes it a certainty you’ll get killed in the next battle.

When I'm standing on a street in the city, The bad guy with a gun threatening to shoot me if I don't get in the car : he can shoot me, there and then. At least someone might hear or see me & get me to a hospital, if I'm lying on the road. Why let him drive me far away so he can torture & kill me in uninterrupted? What stupidity is that?

Also, real American cops when they point a gun and have a clear line, they shoot. They never proceed to 'negotiate' rather than shoot. FFS. What is that about?

I've learnt to know that movies are crap for showing what the good decision is.
