My preschool DS is now on his school holidays for the next month ( we live abroad so December / Jan are summer holiday months with a long school break) and I'm trying to come up with lots of ways to keep him entertained without falling back too much on the TV. We're going on holiday next week so I only have to fill a week, but a couple of days in and there are already long stretches during the day when the temptation to plonk him in front of the TV comes along.
Ideas I have so far:
Cinema
Christmas baking
Painting/colouring in etc
Play dates (have a couple booked in so far)
Swimming
Riding his bike to the park
Lego / playing with toys etc
He gets bored very quickly of arty stuff - he loves it and always wants to do it but 5 minutes in he loses interest. So trying to fill whole days up with fun stuff is a challenge! My husband is away at the moment too, so I'm finding myself using the TV to distract him while I try and cook/tidy up etc, hence why I'm keen to not use the TV if I don't need to. (I'm not anti tv but want to spend quality time with him while it's just the 2 of us). It's also really unbearably hot here right now, so we are trying not to spend too much time outside in the sun. Any ideas to add to my list would be hugely appreciated!
