Anyone else have a squint?

My squint has been the bane of my life. I find it so embarrassing, it gives me low self esteem and it makes me feel uncomfortable making eye contact with people. I finally plucked up the courage to go to the opticians and I've been prescribed some glasses which will apparently make the squint less obvious, but I'm doubtful.

Anyone else struggle with having a squint? I have it pointed out to me every now and again and I hate it.

If you've had treatment for it, what was it? How well did it work?

Are you doing any of the exercises? I'm not (though I should) and they really do help

I have /had a squint.

My right eye turns outwards and I have a prism in my glasses prescription.

I had surgery to correct it and exercises to follow after and now it's mostly gone. You can see it if I'm tired or stoned or drunk.

I also stopped wearing my glasses at around 13/14 and my brain seems to have adapted to only looking through one eye, as the vision in my good eye is nearly perfect, the bad is quite weak at around - 4. I don't have any stereo vision though now and thus no depth perception. I can't drive because of it, can't tell at all how far away things are etc.

I would doubt now that surgery would really help, but I'm not a specialist so I don't really have a clue!

Glasses certainly might help though. My 3d is slowly starting to return since I started wearing mine again and my squint is getting weaker.

The plus side is a cool party trick where I can make it look like I can make my eyes move independently by crossing them and then un focusing so my eye turns outwards. That's had quite a few impressed reactions!

I’ve had surgery and it’s only noticeable now if I’m very tired or drunk too.

Worth fixing that’s for sure!
