I also need to get all the garnishes as well.

Aldi? I’ve hired a mixologist and now need to economise and serve hooch made form nettles or somesuch

Any advice greatly received (ps I’m not really a drinker but every xmas will treat myself to a fancy bottle of gin so I am clueless)

They are going to give me an ingredients list for garnishes. TIA

Aldi probably but they're a bit hit and miss for garnishes. Booze wise they seem to win a lot taste tests and they do most mixers.

I'm guessing you're not too bothered about branded vs non-branded? Might be worth googling which own brands come up for price / taste?

Firstly, speak with your mixologist about what cocktails you will be serving.

You would need to spend a fortune to be able to cater for all cocktails, so I would suggest that you have a set menu for your guests to choose from.

It would be a good idea to stick to classics, and perhaps have two rum based, two gin based, two vodka based (or whatever your preferences are).

Also, make sure you have considered how easy / quick they are to make. It's so annoying if you are waiting for a bartender to make a load of old fashioneds, or something like that.

Once you have decided on the menu, it will be easier to track down good offers on your alcohol of choice.

Costco

Cheap spirits and they do platters of pre-made nibbles

Cemetery- thanks Yes we are coming up with about 5 cocktails on Monday

Tintolinni (sp?)
Porno Martini (gag)
Martini
Margarita
Gin (something)
Prosecco on its own

I thought you needed a trade card for Costco?

Ok, buy the prosecco from Asda, they have 25% off all wines at the moment when you buy six or more.

Invisimamma · 08/12/2018 16:33

Aldi

AbsentmindedWoman · 08/12/2018 16:34

Lidl gin! It's called 'Hampstead' and about a tenner.

They also have a cheaper one too, haven't tried it but sure in cocktails it will be grand Grin

Brilliant thank you

A friend who’s husband used to be in the fancy wine trade said that the Aldi Champagne is better than most £50 bottles ! So will get a few of those in.

A Martini is basically neat gin- if you are getting cheap do a Singapore sling or something else where the quality of the gin is less noticeable! Espresso martinis rule

Justaboutawake · 08/12/2018 17:20

You can have personal membership for Costco. Buy it online for £30-ish I think. Take email into store with ID and they will sort your card there and then

Titsywoo · 08/12/2018 17:56

I have the perfect porn star martini recipe if you need it. I got the ingredients on Amazon.

TaterHater · 08/12/2018 18:38

Oooh the Martini with espresso yum!
