DM's perfume has been discontinued

Bit of a silly one, but I've just found out that my mum's signature perform has been discontinued and I'm quite upset.

She died ten years ago and she used to wear this one particular perfume and would always receive a bottle every Christmas (my dad and I would go to Harrods to buy it) and to me it embodies everything I really fondly remember about my mum.

I have her final bottle which still has a good amount in, tucked away out of the light and I wear it every Christmas Day. But I'm now panicking about it going off (a real threat due to its age) and never being able to find or smell it again. I've found a few bottles online but they're about £2/300!

Has this happened to anybody else? It feels so trivial but it was such a huge part of my memory of her.

It’s not trivial OP I’m sorry for your loss. My grandma’s perfume was such a part of her, I still go and smell it whenever I’m in a perfume shop or duty free. My mum is still alive but her scent is such a part of her that I know it will be the same after she is gone too.

That is very sad OP I can imagine how you feel. My mum is still with us but she has a signature scent which always brings me comfort.

Would it help if we were able to recommend a similar scent? There are a lot around. Or perhaps if you don’t already have one you could put some time into finding your own signature scent to pass on to your own family?

What is it?

My grandma used to use linco beer shampoo, I bought a box of the stuff on ebay when it got discontinued, I stick my head in and sniff it every so often.
I can't remember what perfume she used to wear and it kills me, I have her watch wrapped in plastic and once a year quickly unwrap it and smell the faint smell of perfume, it's getting incredibly faint, barely there tbh now as its been years since she passed so soon I won't remember the smell at all .
It's funny how smells have such memories and emotions, I sniff the watch and just memories flood back.

There is a company that does ‘copies’ of scents - I recently purchased their Gucci Envy copy after a recommendation on here and it is really pretty good.

They do a Fendi Dupe here which is very reasonable and might be worth a try.
