What school shoes do your teen girls wear

Has always been Geox brogues here but now a size 7 and they are. £80 so we went with Clark’s hamble oak in September.

By October half term I had to have both soles stuck back on at the front, they are now the same again.

School is only ½ a mile from the house so probably three miles a day walking max and they are knackered.

Has to be black leather, no boots, no suede patent or nubuck. Preferably brogue or loafer with a decent sole.

Nice thick soles on these. My Dd has had them 17 months so far.

DMs

BoooForYou · 08/12/2018 11:10

DMs here.
Daughter causes death to all other brands but these survive remarkably well

Dr Martens every time

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 08/12/2018 12:13

Doc martens. Expensive but looks like new after a year.

knittedjest · 08/12/2018 12:17

Leather t-bars.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 08/12/2018 12:50

Docs, she has had one pair for nearly two and a half years, I’ve only replaced as she’s grown out of them.

She’s got boots this time, as she’s only at school for another half year.

Hush Puppies brogues are very robust, though I’m not sure what their size range is like.

pointythings · 08/12/2018 13:56

I'd be going DMs too. Expensive, but very hard wearing. DD1 wears them to school. DD2 wears plain black canvas trainers, but then her school doesn't specify leather only - just plain black and no heel.

Troels · 08/12/2018 14:04

Dd wears Clarks black brogues. She's wearing last years shoes again this year as her new ones were taken/stolen in the frst week back during PE. I'm still livid.
Next year I'm writing on the soles as well as inside. God help any other kid I catch wearing them.

Tidypidy · 08/12/2018 14:06

My daughter wears boys Clark's shoes. Very comfy and seem to be more hard wearing than the girls' styles.

dementedpixie · 08/12/2018 14:11

www.schuh.co.uk/womens/schuh-house-party-black-flat-shoes/1339137020/ dd has these. Has a good sole

meikyo · 08/12/2018 14:20

My DD wears Timberland Nellie slim in black. They accommodate her orthopaedic insoles (she is hypermobile with weak ankles) and current pair just coming to end after 16 months. She loves them and wears them at weekends too.

Toomanybaubles · 08/12/2018 15:18

Is the Nellie a boot meikyo? I have googled but can't find anything that isn't a boot (boots not allowed).

Unfortunately she doesn't like DMs so they are not an option.

I have actually found a size 7 in the Geox for £50 on amazon and they are being delivered tomorrow here.

If they don't fit I might try the schuh ones as they were approved- start rite were not, neither were any of the Clarks boys shoes.

Anyone have any Dune shoes? these and these would conform and have been accepted. I think the stitched on sole might make them more hard wearing?

Are clarks school shoes generally hard wearing then? I have never bought them, only Geox (which have lasted a full twelve months). The Clarks Hamble Oak was trashed within 8 weeks although it was from the Womens section not school shoe section.

Not heavy wear either.

AlexanderHamilton · 08/12/2018 15:22

Dd has small feet so wore Start Rite Angry Angels brogues until she fitted into Geox brogues. The Geox lasted two years. She’s now at college so wears supportive trainers.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 08/12/2018 15:28

Here all the kids wear black leather Converse, Nike’s or Adidas Superstars

Toomanybaubles · 08/12/2018 15:32

Wouldn't be allowed ROAR, very strict uniform policy.

OP posts:
meikyo · 08/12/2018 19:28

Timberland Nellie is a boot, albeit just on the ankles, so unfortunately this wouldn't probably be suitable for a shoes only policy. Hope you find something suitable soon.

hugoagogo · 08/12/2018 19:33

ricosta very comfy and hard wearing.

Sexnotgender · 08/12/2018 19:34

My daughter has DM brogues.

Toomanybaubles · 08/12/2018 19:36

She doesn’t want DMs and is a size 7 - the ricosta seem to stop at a six but thanks.

We went with these at the start of the year, 1 mike walk from train station each way and they are very comfortable and still look good. We looked at dm’s but she hasn’t stopped growing yet so didn’t seem worth the investment.

7.5 any good?

Kim82 · 08/12/2018 19:56

Both my high school age dds wear Kickers for school. My eldest has had hers for 18 months now and they’re still in great condition.

Ilovealexa · 08/12/2018 19:56

The kickers look quite sturdy :)
