Facebook access to photos? Have I exposed myself?

I’m really private on Facebook, I don’t really post pics of family or me, god forbid😱😱

However, I’ve just realised when I sent a friend some photos via messenger, when Facebook asked for access to my photos did my photos on my camera roll get put on Facebook for friends to see?😰

I’ve removed access now but feel uncomfortable knowing people would have been viewing my albums on Facebook without my knowledge😕

Please help!

Don’t worry - typically by “access” it means that the Facebook / messenger apps can access your camera roll and then post that photo, it doesn’t mean anyone can access your camera roll via Facebook.

No access there is just for you to take a photo through the messenger app, or select a photo through it.

Thank you, so when I opened my profile and saw all my pictures on there, that was just for me? Phew!

I had a real panic, no one wants to see me on a beach🤣

You can go on your profile page and click "View as..." and either choose a friend or public and see how your profile looks to others.

If you see your photos actually on your Facebook profile, yes, you have somehow uploaded them to Facebook for all to see (how, I don’t know, I’ve never had this issue in all my 15+ years of using Facebook, perhaps you pressed select all when doing the upload?). If when you go to the upload a photo to a message or your page and it shows all your photos, that is just showing what’s on your phone for you to choose from. It’s much like how gmail shows you everything on your desktop when you ask to upload a document.

Facebook will show you your camera roll on your view, but not on your profile page.
