What fresh, new hell is this - Pizza Hut?

Thought I'd take the children out for a Pizza Hut - haven't been in ages.

What has happened in that time? It used to be a relaxed meal with a waiter coming to your table to take your order, decent salad bar, huge range of pizzas, cutlery already on table...

Now it's like a canteen, you have to go to a counter to order/pay, the salad bar is nothing special at all, the pizzas are nothing special either.

And the noise! The Pizza Hut we went to wasn't especially big or busy, but it couldn't decide if it was trying to be like an American diner or a Morrisons cafe!

Ironically, while everyone is stuffing their faces, Band Aid's Feed the World is blaring in our ears.

I agree with you, but when we went my kids thought it was literally the best day ever. They still talk about it 2 years later

Dunno if it's false memory but didn't Pizza Hut pizzas used to taste better? And I agree about the salad bar going downhill recently. Also found the range of stuff for the ice cream factory very limited of late. As a result, we go far less frequently these days.

I think the prices are roughly the same. Two kids meals, an adult pizza and starter was about £30.
Pizzas are now either individual or sharing.

Yes, the kids had the best time. The ice cream factory is still a hit, and they now have a self serve drinks section.

Boyskeepswinging, yes the pizzas used to be really tasty - a contender to Pizza Express, but they're bland and gimmicky now.

And the salad bar was just all the bits nobody really likes (beetroot, green pepper, shredded carrot...) They've even managed to ruin the potato salad. And no cold pasta salad!!!!

Pizza Hut has always been shite and expensive. However it sounds like they want to be the pizza version of Nando’s with the self service crap.
