Teenage phone contract

Can anyone recommend a good value contract suitable for a teenager?
We have recently become full time guardians of a 13 year old following her mother’s death. Our son is only 3, so this is a whole new world!
Spending caps & parental Controls seem like a good idea. Anything else we should think about? She has a handset. We just want her to be contactable & able to contact us when she’s out & about.

Please tell me what you use for your teens & whether you would recommend?

Look at sim only deals, I think we pay £14 a month for dds that's for unlimited texts and calls and 5g of data. Once it's gone it's gone so she can't run up any bills.

Sim only would be your best bet.

If you already have a phone contract call you provider and see what they will give you for an additional line.

I got 5gb data, unlimited calls & texts for £7 per month
I'm with EE and I downloaded an app which allowed me to control the additional line; blocking calls / websites etc

Giff gaff and plusnet do good value phone contracts. About £7 for sim only. I have actually just got my dd an actual contract - £22 per month for iPhone 6s and 4gb data. Not much more than buying second hand phone (from shop not random eBayer) and a sim
Only.

Thanks! Will look at SIM only. Unlimited calls sounds like a good idea. I like the thought of her being able to contact us without worrying about minutes / credit.

There are a lot of decent simo contracts out at the moment. Mine has 20gb for £20 unlimited calls to landline and mobiles/text. You can set a spend cap so they dont go over by ringing numbers outside the tariff such as competition/premium rate lines. Its better value than pay n go and you dont get pestered to top up.

Giffgaff are best for teens. If you can encourage their friends to get on the same network Giffgaff to Giffgaff calls are free too!

We pay £10 a month for dds monthly Giffgaff sim which includes some mobile internet data. She’s 16.

Mine have a sim and iPhone SE from Tesco mobile £10.50 sim for 5000 minutes, 5000 texts, 1.5GB data plus £7.25 per month for a year for the phone minus £2 per month family perk.

£16.25 per month but only £8.50 per month after the phone is paid for.

I have set a zero bill buffer, so no additional useage.

We have plusnet for £5 per month. 1.5gb data. Can only spend £2 per month above that. Runs on EE network!

Gift gaff, £7.50 a month, I think that’s plenty if they can also connect to the home WiFi so don’t need to use the mobile data when home.
