Refund to an expired card

I've been refunded part of a holiday after being overcharged, but it was booked in April and I since lost the card I used to book with, but that's the card they have refunded before speaking to me. Even though the card was cancelled back in May will the refund still go into my account? Bloke from holiday company didn't seem to know!

Best to contact your bank and ask. If it's not going to be refunded into that card, they'll be able to tell you what to do.

It should go into the account that the card was attached to. The money never goes to the card it's always the account.

NewGrandad that’s not right.

The payment is refunded to the card and normally goes to your bank account ok. If you’re expecting it and it hasn’t gone there you may need to call your bank. They will be able to see a transaction against the old card and reallocate this to your new card which will be paid into your account.

I’ve worked for a high street bank for over ten years, up till four years ago as a frontline agent.

If it’s changed in any way it would be that it now automatically goes onto the new card - probably not though as the reason it’s like this is in case you had a new card due to fraud the case is still open. If that makes sense!
