Music player for toddler's bedroom

I would like to get DD some sort of music playing device for her bedroom as she loves my radio and the hifi downstairs.

She is only 19m so I don't want to spend loads as I know she might not always be gentle with it (though she is careful with my radio so might be ok) and something fairly robust with big buttons she can press herself would be great.

I definitely don't want a pretend CD player with plastic discs playing children's songs.

Ideally something with a radio and either CD or MP3 capability.

What do others do re music in their children's bedrooms?

DD had a kids cd player with a microphone, I think from the early learning centre. DS had a fairly basic cd player. The key for us was that in both cases the players would play copied discs. We burn a copy from the original, use Sharpies and my less than great art skills to label them and the kids never had the original disc. Got a lot easier once they could read!

We did loose a few discs to scratches and so on though so it was easier than tracking down a new copy of a beloved bedtime story.

That's a really good idea to make copies. Thanks for replying.

The current ELC player has iffy reviews but I'll see what other basic CD players are available.
