What delights do you find in your child’s pockets on washday?

I say washday, but really, what day isn’t about battling the piles in the laundry?

Just now in one pocket I found: 3 uniform hair ribbons (one from a school we don’t attend); half a candy cane; a folded leaf with dead bug in it; a big smear of sky-blue glitter putty; a poo emoji eraser.

One 8yo girl, collected in 2 days.

Some days, I’m really scared about putting my hands in there. I thought I was being clever by putting a small bowl on the washing machine to decant all the pockets into, but actually I need a compost bin, a recycling bin, a tray for re-distribution within the house, a bag for ‘returning to school & little friends’ and a hazardous waste container.

What’s surprised you on washday, when turning out the pockets?

Found about 5000 loom bands in the washing machine door seal last week!
