Christmas party first drink

This might seem like a strange question but I don't normally go pubs/parties and will have to attend work's Christmas party this year. Its a lunch at a venue that we'll have exclusive use of. Not a big drinker and would occasionally have a glass of wine, cider or beer at the weekend. Worried that I'll be judged on that first drink and wonder what people normally have pre- meal or with lunch. What's the protocol and what's trendy these days?

Whatever you want!!

Although gin & tonic is very 'trendy' now.

Depends on the venue, Pre meal lots of people will have Prosecco or G&T or possibly a cocktail. During meal wine or beer or cider would be fine. Enjoy!

I don’t drink much, but I found at a wedding recently that ivan go Prosecco at lunchtime without needing a little nap afterwards.

I'd go for a Buck's Fizz - orange juice and Prosecco. Nice pre lunch, festive, and not very boozy.

G&T sounds good. Didn't think a pint would be seen as appropriate. And yes I'm likely to be needing a nap after a couple of rounds. Missing the pre- children me...
