In hospital worried and also bored

Hey everyone

35yr old female, pretty healthy wise eat well, not over weight etc but I do/did smoke. Won't be smoking again after this.

Tuesday morning had a weird pressure feeling in chest, it went down my arms and up my face. It wasn't painful just weird ache, took the kids to school as normal came home felt fine.

Spoke to a friend who insisted I went to doctor, I went wa a told heart burn.
Went home and just planned to have a lie down.
About 12.30 friend and DH both wanted me to go to A&E I didn't see the point I felt fine?
After an hour of been told i went. Waited 2hrs to be seen, saw doctor who said oh it sounds like a virus we will take some bloods.
Felt incredibly stupid being in there for nothing.

Then same doctor came out rather flustered took me to trauma ward got me and bed and said, we think you may of had a heart attack.

That was Tuesday now Thursday, have had blood tests, tablets, injections, 24hr heart monitors.
I'm waiting on a CT to have dye put through to check my heart.

Sorry long post I'm fed up, anxiety is sky high and I'm scared

If it was a heart attack you are in the right place and they can do loads to prevent another one.

Thank you random.

I used to have panic attacks so bad they took over my life, been on medication for 9 years and not had one .. until Tuesday.
Which is making me thinking I can't breath etc so I'm making myself worse

I'm not aloud to even go for a wee have to use a bed pan. Stuck sitting here very bored and my mind is telling me all sorts

Nothing planned as such, luckily done all the shopping.

Dc can not wait, they came to see me for 10 mins today which was lovely, really missed them

Now. Do you have a telly? iPad? Netflix? Books? Puzzle books? Anything to entertain you? Of course MN will trump all of that!

Just FYI if its a CT with iodine contrast you're waiting for, that feels bizarre. You'll feel quite warm and if you've peed/sweat all the water out your body and are sitting in wet clothes. It'll stop once you come out the scanner. Drink lots after. Hope you feel better soon.

I have my phone, but the network or something is down so messages and calls are a bit on and off.

I have Netflix but weirdly wnoughbhave no interest.

Thus time last week if you had asked me my idea day, it would of been I bed xhilljnf watching movies..

Mn is definetly keeping me entertained, talking to people takes my mind of the constant panic attacks

At least you have an internet connection. Hospital is a very boring place to be without that. Are you on a ward? Any other friendly patients?

there is an issue with the o2 4g network.
they said it should work properly again tomorrow.

That sounds like what I'm having bob, I've heard it makes you feel like you have had a wee.
I was on a ward but now have my own room, the ward was a unisex one, not that I minded to be honest, but they moved me to my own room, which I do like as it's quite but boring. The other patients were all very elderly and just out of surgery so I didn't get to talk to anyone. But now i have my own room I got to see the kids quickly today even tho they were aloud on the ward I didnt think it would of been fair on patients as they are very poorly

But yes thank god for Internet connection

So, have you got your own PJs/nighty on or are in you one of those unflattering hospital gowns that flap open at the back? 😃

The lovely gown with butt out.
Just had a bed bath and been clean up, rather humiliating but has to be done I guess.

Oh gosh the food is awful. Lucilky I haven't got much of an appetite.

I got dinner which was tomotoe quiche, boiled potatoes and mixed veg. I has a mouth full of the veg then I ate the yogurt.

DH was in hospital during the hot weather in July. He moaned constantly about the food and said even the sandwiches were inedible. In the end I was taking food in for him!
The wonderful hospital gown, usually with the hospital or That's name printed large on it, because everyone wants to pinch one (not).
I hope you have interesting roomies in your bay, or if not them, then their visitors.

East, your poor dh, it's so hot in here and it's freezing outside, I can't imagine how hot it was then.

My gown has stripes on which make my eyes go dizzy, and noone does the tie up after they finished and I forget and have boobs everywhere.

I asked for a cheese and salad sandwhich, the lettuce was all brown and the bread was soaked and soggy. I didn't eat it, I had another yogurt, I like the yogurts.

Thank you, still in shock.
I mean it didn't even hurt that much at all, only reason why I was a little co seemed it it went down my arms NOT just left arm.

Apparently woman experience or can experience it differently than men, also woman tend to put it off or think it's something else, hence why woman tend to die more from heart attacks (was told all this tueaday)

I’ve heard that before about women and heart attacks. It happened to a lady on Grey’s anatomy last week so it must be true Wink.

I wonder what the symptoms can be for women?

I am very glad you are being looked after (in the non-food sense of the word) but ruddy Nora Hospitals are boring old places aren’t they and the problem with being poorly, as you said earlier, is that you aren’t up to doing all the things you dream of doing if you ever got some enforced time off!

Have you got candy crush or boom beach or other such mindless games you could play? I used to love one called Harbour master, very simple and with a lovely jaunty tune but it’s gone now so I am just tantalising you with a glimpse of its existence.

If you can’t concentrate enough to read much, audio books are good and I think you can get a free trial from audible.

Very well done on your Christmas shopping OP although I do hate you just a teensy bit for it Grin

Yes, I think a lot of the information available about symptoms is focused around the male experience of heart attack.

I hope you are able to get some rest tonight, is your ward quiet?

Hospital breakfasts are usually OK, especially if you like porridge. Hopefully you will get something you can eat tomorrow, have they got a bed/menu system running there?

Thank you all.

Apparently typical symptoms for women are BOTH arms hurting/aching. Or just 1 arm, but don't be put off by both hurting as that's a sign.
Tummy pain like full tummy feeling
Chest also feeling full, not pain just ache, has/fave pain. Mine was more warmth feeling that was gone within 5 mins.
Thoes are all I can remember.

I have no games on phone, I don't usually have time to be honest so although u have always though a whole day to myself would be great I'm bored. Typical. Although I'm sure if my anxiety was taking over me watching nexflix would be nice.

I've got calming music on in my ear phones trying to control my breathing
