Glue ear and school

My Ds 4 has multiple problems with his ears, appointment to look into grommets is coming up. He's on a 10 day course of antibiotics at moment as his ears are a mess again with infection (this happens all the time). I have a meeting with the school coming up, in the past his ear problems have been dismissed by them, how can I or what do I say to be taken seriously? I feel that they're looking more at his behaviour problems (lack of concentration, can't sit still etc) and not factoring in his ears at all.
His speech could be better , I know he lip reads because I've seen his watching my lips when I talk to him
His appointment is in the next couple of weeks thankfully, but he's not enjoying school and I want to help him

Has he had hearing tests? Sounds like his hearing is affected by the infections - and his behaviour.

Is his speech ok? Does he need to have speech therapy?

I'd ask the school if he can sit at the front to give him a better chance of hearing, and ask the teacher to check he's looking at her when she speaks, and repeat things if he hasn't heard.

Hope the grommets help.

I think school ought to be sympathetic! Hopefully once his glue ears are fixed his behaviour will naturally get better as he can listen properly etc. A friend's DC recently had their glue ears sorted with grommets and I think speech improved quickly thereafter. Best of luck OP Xxx
