How long do I wait?

Someone offered to buy something from me. Couldn't collect on the day she said she would, but didn't bother to let me know until I had messaged her. She asked me to keep it for another day.

I said I would keep it but she needed to collect it today because it's big and in my way. I messaged her at 4pm asking if she was coming. She hasn't replied.

How long do I wait before offering it to someone else? What if she's busy or had some major family emergency? Then I would feel bad. But right now I just feel a bit pissed off that I am having to chase her when I know other people would take it.

It's facebook messenger, I can't work out how you know if she's read it or not.

Offer it to someone else and first to pick it up gets it.

Nah give up. There are so many of these timewasters around. Anyone who’s a no-show the first time is a dead loss.

I don’t mind holding on to stuff if people ask, and reply to messages. But she sounds flakey and has already been given a couple chances so I’d message her saying you have others interested and willing to pick up tomorrow. See what she says

I've already messaged her today and she hasn't replied. I feel like if I message her again I'm hassling her to buy my thing when I actually don't want her to buy it now anyway.

I just checked back and I sent the message at 3pm. Of she hasn't replied by 7 I'm giving it to someone else. 4 hours is long enough.
