It is WINTER why are their the most giant flies in my house by the dozens? They're dozy as anything (I can just walk up to them and hoover or swat) but why are they so big and why are their so many?

Rotten food is usually the answer. So check/ empty food waste / check cupboards

Hoover them up. They should be away in approx 4 days.

There's no food waste anywhere ... but, I've just thought. We had rat poison out in the loft because we had a neighbourhood infestation, could one have died in the walls/loft without me smelling it? 🤢

That'll be it.
There'll be something dead somewhere for sure.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 04/12/2018 21:24

Oh gross! There's no smell anywhere, I always associated dead rodents with 'the stench' however I have just hoovered 12 fly giants from my bathroom so something is going on.

Do I need to do anything about dead rodents in walls or just leave it until they have decomposed Envy

Cluster flies.
We had them in the attic every winter at our last (new build) house.
Horrible.

Deffo. cluster flies had them in our attic.

Cluster flies - come out when it's sunny/warmer you need a smoke bomb in your loft. We did one in Sunday as they have been super grim

borntobequiet · 04/12/2018 21:42

They breed in crevices and come out because your house is warm. Nothing to do with rotten food. Spray them.
