I am home during the day (work nights) I often get asked by couriers to take parcels for neighbours (they wake me up when I,m sleeping sometimes, but that's a whole other thread). I don't mind doing this for neighbours, they usually come and collect them and it saves them the journey to collect from the post office.
New neighbours moved in a few months ago. 6 days ago a courier knocks with a parcel for them, which I take in. They don't collect it that night.
Next evening I notice their car on the drive and lights on so I knock and no answer. Same again next night. So 4th night I pop a note through the door saying I have their parcel and had tried to drop it off and could they come collect it, just in case the courier had not left a note ( I never usually deliver parcels as I,m not Postman Pat and its never been an issue with other neighbours). I,m not chasing them and I,m not leaving it on their doorstep as I don't want the responsibility in case it gets stolen. How long before I can send it back if they don't come for it? I will be refusing to take any from that address in future.
