Pulled muscle in chest! Should I be worried?

For the past couple of months, every now and again when I move from sitting to another position, I get pain in my chest. It's in the centre of my chest radiating a little to the right hand side. It 100% feels like the pain of a pulled muscle. It's only occasional and is not something that's been concerning me at all as, like I said, it feels like a pulled muscle. It's just dawned on me that maybe this is something to take more seriously with it being in the chest? Or does it not sound like anything to be concerned about?

I used to suffer from health anxiety a number of years ago so try not to get ahead of myself with these things these days.

Since it's been going on so long you've probably tweaked a ligament (or whatever the connections to the sternum are made of). You can do that by coughing, no need for a fall or twist or anything.

Get it poked by a doctor or take it to a physio.

It's wildly unlikely to be anything heart related, those tend to express across the full width of your chest (as if you're having a belt cinched around you) or in the shoulder for some reason.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/costochondritis/ ?

**ing hurts too.

Thanks both.

It definitely doesn't feel like anything sinister to me.

I've read the costochondritis link. Mines is very intermittent though. Could go a week without it and when it happens it'll hurt for maybe 30 seconds although other times it'll happen more frequently. It is pretty painful when it happens though.

Maybe ligament damage then.

I have this. Feels like your pectoral muscles are being pulled (at best) or ripped from your chest (at worst). Sometimes comes with movement but usually out of nowhere and last for a minute or two, sometimes also difficult to move the arm whilst it hurts.

I've had investigations and no one can give me an answer. The constocondritis diagnosis was thrown around for a bit but it just doesn't fit. It doesnt seem to be harmful, just sore and annoying. If you happen to get an answer from seeing a doctor, could you let me know please?

I also have this although my pain is to the left. I saw a rheumatologist who said the pain was gastric and I then saw a gastroenterologist who said it was musculoskeletal
I still have the pain but it is gradually getting better after 3 months

Going to the doctor today about this. I was in agony yesterday but no pain so far today. It feels like my muscle is being pulled away from the bones in my chest. I know that sounds really weird. There's also a swelling just where one rib meets the bone that connects all the ribs.

So strange. Hopefully it's nothing concerning 🙏🏼
