Hi all,

I am wanting to go back to work part time I have a 4 month old baby, and can't go back to my old job due to the hours, I keep applying for jobs and keep getting turned down, I have had 2 interviews but just not got anywhere, I'm feeling really down about it.
Just needed to vent!

This is perfectly normal. You just have to keep trying. Nobody walks into a job easily these days

RioRio99 · 04/12/2018 11:44

I wouldn't say two interviews would count as being turned down a lot. Perfectly normal. The fact you're getting interviews is good. Some people struggle with that alone (I have in the past). Just keep going and ask for feedback where you can.

2 interviews does not equal 'keep getting turned down'. Did those two interviews give you any feedback?

amusedbush · 04/12/2018 11:50

I've had eight interviews this year and haven't been offered any of the jobs. All of the feedback has been really positive too, it's just really competitive out there.

Thankfully I have a full time job that I like so it's not a huge deal, but it's very disheartening.

moose234 · 04/12/2018 11:58

What I meant is I have had two interviews, but been turned down for many more from online applications, it's just disheartening, we live with in laws and I am desperate to get out, I hate not having my own space.

Just gotta keep on at it I'm afraid.

Part time roles are mega competitive.

I ended up applying for ft in the end and recently got offered a job after attending 3 interviews.

Nicknacky · 04/12/2018 12:46

Would your in laws/partner be able to watch baby if you have anti social hours?

Until you find anything more suitable that is?

Needallthesleep · 04/12/2018 14:52

I’ve been turned down for about 10 different jobs in the last four months. It is a tough market. Whenever I get rejected the next thing pops up though, and eventually I’ll get something. Keep going, two rejections isn’t bad, and the interview practice is good.

TheMarbleFaun · 04/12/2018 16:16

Agree the fact that you're getting interviews is good
What type of job are you looking for and what sort of hours or shift pattern?
