Day rate for painter / decorator- London

Now I often see when people say in threads how much they’re paying for a cleaner/ handyman/ window cleaner/ bathroom installation/ painter decorator , there is a collective sharp intake of breath at what OP is paying or being quoted. And posters giving (what seems to me) really competitive/ low rates.

So can I ask, for London, what would be a mid range day rate for a good and reliable painter / decorator?

Usually £120 to £150 a day to get a good one who is precise and tidy.

If you're in London I have one I'd recommend

I have learned the hard way never to pay a day rate. Get a price for doing the job, however long it takes.

I had 2 similar size rooms painted. The guy on a day rate took 5 days. The guy on a rate for the job took 2 days.
