Can anyone recommend a nice large household plant we can use for a Xmas tree then keep after?

I don't want to waste money on a tree but we could do with a nice houseplant large sized.

Should I just go to IKEA?

Cheese plant or a potted palm. I've no idea if you'd get either of these at Ikea but they're pretty common.

We used a bay tree for years as students.

Bay tree is what we did in our 1st flat.

Weeping fig tree can look very pretty decorated with lights.

A nice big potted palm looks lovely with lifts around it. I did that for Christmas in my flat the first year I moved in, and never took the lights off it looked so good!
