I've never been loved unconditionally

My birth mum had to adopt me, I never met my birth father.
My adoptive parents were abusive
My DH is amazing but is marriage ever unconditional? My in laws are lovely but it's not the same.
I love my children unconditionally but sometimes I'm floored by what I've missed.
Sometimes I wonder how I've lived life at all and found happiness given how adrift a lack of unconditional love makes you.

Your birth mum might have given you up because she loved you but couldn't care for you. Being adopted doesn't necessarily mean you were not loved unconditionally.

Your children love you unconditionally.

Neither have I. Somewhat similar story... it's a horrible thought; but to be honest, as it's not something that I can change I try to ignore it and be the best person I can be.

And I value DP immensely. He loves me and it's the closest to unconditional that I'll get; and I love him too.

Is any love unconditional?
Child to parent - not if abuse occurs
Adult to adult - again, abuse / cheating /et al
Parent to child - Oo-err, hornets' nest kicked
