Driving test!

I have my first (spot the negativity) driving year tomorrow morning at 810. I have a lesson first too so mega early start. It's near a school as well so will be knee deep in traffic just at the wrong time.
I wouldn't say I'm nervous exactly but I can't get my mindset to be that I could pass. I've been learning for a year and a bit and I'm pregnant so I need to get this done.
Any tips for success? I fully expect to fail and I can't make myself think positive!

Wishing you luck Thanks
No tips as I've done 33 lessons and still not taking a test yet! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Good luck.

Heavy traffic doesn't have to be bad provided you're experienced driving in it. If you're not moving you can't make mistakes, and the examiners might choose routes with more back roads and fewer busy junctions. Watch out for other drivers and pedestrians, especially on the school run, being stupid though.

I'm kind of hoping that if we are stuck in school traffic it will give the illusion of being an amazing driverWink
Also with such an early start I'll hardly have time to be nervous in theory. It's not my usual instructor taking me either so that will be strange.

I passed on my 3rd test (wasn't ready for 1st, not enough lessons, and 2nd was a stupid mistake!), and I found that due to the time of day there was a lot of traffic, Bin lorries, cyclists to overtake etc, which actually made me less nervous than the longer runs, and showed more of my skills. I felt a lot more relaxed and found it easier than my previous tests, so hopefully you may find the same. Good luck!

Just remember a few things:

You will be nervous. Don't fight it, just take your nerves along with you.

Drive like you normally would. Don't start driving extra slow or trying to second guess what the examiner wants.

Examiners want you to pass. It's more work for them if you don't - so they're already on your side!

Don't start telling them how much you need to pass. Strangely, everyone really needs to pass, and it makes no difference to your driving or result.

Enjoy it. Seriously. And if you don't pass, so what? It's not like you have to wait a year to do it again.

Good luck! Smile

I passed 3rd time and chose a rush hour slot for my test.
My thinking was... it would be to busy to do any other routes apart from the shortest one and I could kind of guess my manoeuvres would be parking related.

Good luck 💐

Aww well done anyway. I have mine on Thursday and also expecting not to pass first time.

Are you rebooking?

KindergartenKop · 04/12/2018 11:01

All the best people past second (third) time round. Good luck!

Jaxtellerswife · 04/12/2018 11:25

I'm going to rebook after Christmas and do a mini intensive. It wasn't a technique problem just a cock up so if I don't repeat that it will be fine.
Good luck for Thursday

At least you know what to expect. It took my five times to pass mine.

In the end I sat my instructor in the back as I was convinced they were taking the piss.

That time I passed. Weird.

Good luck for your next go.
