Hi all,
Bought DS a Nintendo switch for Xmas, but as I was setting it up today, it said I couldn’t connect to the internet, as it didn’t have the right level of security. It must be WEP or WPA. So I have used the laptop and gone into the WiFi settings, and changed the security level, to WPA1.
So now the internet has stopped.
I’m now stuck aith the Ethernet cable, trying to sort these settings out as the WiFi network has completely disappeared from all devices. How to I fix this? I don’t want to go back to unsecured WiFi now I’ve discovered that’s what I had, but I don’t understand at all. Please help!!

WEP used to be the industry standard. WPA is a higher level, but not all devices run it very easily. DS should be able to cope with WEP, so if you change your laptop and router to WEP you should be fine.

You'll need to go around all the wifi devices (except the router) and re-connect them to the wifi. Changing from WPA2 to WPA makes it a different network from their point of view, even with the same name and password.

But because it has the same name and password, sometimes rebooting a device might get it to connect so try that for each before tapping in the password etc.

If it was previously unsecured then there would have been no password to connect to the WiFi. As you’re now using WPA you should have set a password which you will need to enter on all the devices you want to connect. Is that the issue?

Or, if your WiFi isn’t showing up on any devices, it may be that you’ve set your router to hide the SSID (then router’s name) when you turned on security?

Justaguy yes, that was it Blush
I just had to click the thing to make it visible. 🤦‍♀️
It had a password before, but don’t know what type it was, as when I went into settings, under security, it was ticked ‘no security’.
Thanks spoon I’ll reset the devices, hopefully they’ll just reconnect 👍
Thank you!!
