Stuff. Bank statements, work correspondence, birth certificates, car documents. Etc. I know there's less and less of it these days but I still seem to have so much of it and no idea how/where to store it.

I get paper statements as I don't have a computor, only phone.

Filing cabinet, of course 😁 I've got one that fits into the furniture rather than something "secure", a 2 drawer one.

Bank statement are just shredded - if I need to look at them they are all available via online banking (you can look them up on your phone if you don't have a computer)

I have an A4 file with plastic wallets in for all my warranties (e.g fridge, TV, etc and furniture building instructions - I just staple the receipt to the relevant paperwork.

I have a file for all my really important documents like birth certificates, my will, marriage licence, degree certificate.

Good grief I actually hadn't thought about shredding the bank statements. I can do online banking on my phone and as you say, can view them there.

I have archive boxes (from Argos) for old stuff, labelled of course, and for more current stuff a-z concertina file. I have utility bills in an A4 folder, with tabbed dividers, also nicely labelled. I recently did an inventory Blush of my storeroom and cupboards as well, so that I can find things

In files like this. I then have a long ottoman / blanket box in spare room filed in.

I also take photos of important things and upload it to acloud account specifically for this.

So if ever have to make claim house insurance due to flood fire damage etc its right there.

Oh God I knew opening this thread would make me feel inadequate.
All really important stuff (birth certificates etc) is in a metal filing box in a cupboard (but there are piles of stuff waiting to be filed on top of it) recent stuff is in a basket on the sideboard, and fortunately I don’t have printed bank statements or payslips any more.

VanessaShanessaJenkins · 02/12/2018 22:35

I have a safe with documents such as passports in. A filing part of my desk drawer for most documents and a second filling box in the garage for old documents from moving house etc.

TheRhythmlessCarolMan · 02/12/2018 22:45

Filing cabinet. Also those cheap white cardboard magazine files and SMARASSEL boxes from ikea.

BertieBotts · 02/12/2018 22:48

File box from WHS with all the categories all filled in, I think it's called an a-z box file or something. I've sworn by this for years, it just works.

Switch to green banking and they won't send you paper statements any more.
