How do you pronounce the numerical part of your address?

Just curious is there's a rhyme or reason to it.

I live at number 16. I say sixteen xxx avenue. My friend lives at 43 and says four three xxx road.

My mother lives at 157 and says 'one hundred and five seven' my dad says 'one- fifty seven'

I would say 'one - five- seven'

Just musing really

I say forty thats four zero necause forty and fourteen sound similar especially over the phone.

shiveringtimber · 02/12/2018 21:45

I say six-four two-four (6424).

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 02/12/2018 21:46

160-I say one sixty usually

helpmebreathe · 02/12/2018 21:46

I just say ninety one Hmm

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 02/12/2018 21:46

shivering you must live on a very long road Grin

FourFuxxakes · 02/12/2018 21:47

I say ours as three individual numbers e.g. no. four five six Mumsnet Road. I say my mam's and both siblings' as their actual numberrs, e.g. no. seventy eight Mumsnet Terrace. I don't know why there's a difference!

SillyBub · 02/12/2018 21:47

I live at number 6. I say 6 xxxxxx Avenue Grin

Sunnysidegold · 02/12/2018 21:47

Mine is say 143 and I say one-four-three usually.

Racecardriver · 02/12/2018 21:48

I am currently thirteen. Have previously been one six five, one oh seven and twenty eight.

Knittink · 02/12/2018 21:48

I say twenty-five. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say the digits separately except when the number is in the thousands (which I've only ever heard on U.S. tv shows!).

Notquiteagandt · 02/12/2018 21:51

One two zero six 1206 say each nunber seperately

greensnail · 02/12/2018 21:51

If it is one or two digits i will just say the number, eg eighty seven
For three digit door numbers i would say each digit seperately, eg two one nine

PlatypusPie · 02/12/2018 21:51

I think if you live with 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, or 80 as the number or part of the number you learn to say it out as on the phone or in formal situations as X zero or it will often get mistaken for 13,14,15,16,17,18 ( or the reverse )

DeadBod · 02/12/2018 21:53

One two three xxx avenue but in my last house I said twenty five xxx road. I don't know why I've changed my format.

sdaisy26 · 02/12/2018 21:53

When i lived somewhere with a 3 digit number I said each digit separately eg one two three xx road. Anywhere with a 2 digit I’ve always said it as one number eg forty five.

Bagadverts · 02/12/2018 21:54

No issue at my current address as single digit. At previous house have used either 1 - 6-5 or one hundred and sixty five. Can't remember a pattern.

PetuliaBlavatsky · 02/12/2018 21:54

One hundred and five seven would drive me insane! That's got to be the least logical way of saying it.

I used to live in a house with a number in hundreds and I would always say each digit (one five two). Numbers smaller than 100 I'd say as a whole number (forty three). Now we have a house name!

Cleanermaidcook · 02/12/2018 21:54

I'm at 11 so I just say eleven.
Previously at 172 and I said one seven two. Never thought about why.

cricketmum84 · 02/12/2018 21:54

I live at number 3 😂 I say 3 x road

VictoryOrValhalla · 02/12/2018 21:55

I live at number 1. I say “one” Grin

TheHatOfDoom · 02/12/2018 21:57

I live in a flat with a number and a letter. I say for example 4B (obvious pause) house avenue because many people have assumed it’s 4 beehouse avenue.

MinecraftHolmes · 02/12/2018 21:57

1 or 2 digit number I say the number. 3 digits are said individually. Although I do say two-hundred-and-twenty-one-B Baker Street... Confused so it’s not consistent.

BreconBeBuggered · 02/12/2018 21:58

Never said anything that wasn't the number, ie 54 = fifty four.

itsboiledeggsagain · 02/12/2018 21:59

One five seven.
It is my actual number too but I am not your mum

MadisonAvenue · 02/12/2018 22:01

Where we live now I say 'twenty eight'. Our last house was 237 and for that I'd say 'two three seven xxx rd'.
