Anyone else had a scam call from Metro Taxis in Bolton?

Had two phone calls from different mobile numbers to my mobile saying I had a taxi outside my house. I told them I was in Suffolk and I very much doubted it. Then got this number calling and then disconnected. Googled the number and got the above. I was polite to them too!!! 😡 😡 😡 😡

Just rang their actual office number and they said that someone using my number had been booking taxis!! Really confused now!

I suggest you to just ignore those calls. If possible, you cold report the number to the real company and also to the FTC. I sometimes also share the number on my social media page and some sites like whycall.me just to make more people know that those numbers are scammers.

Sounds like there's been a mistake with the phone number. It doesn't sound like a scam.

That is interesting. A few weeks ago I had two texts late at night saying my taxi was waiting for me. When I googled the number it was in Norfolk! I'm not in Bolton but I live not very far from it. I just blocked it.

Mobile numbers aren’t geographic. The person could just be a digit out.

Sounds like either they have taken the number down wrong, or were given the wrong number in the first place. Doubt it's a scam

Live locally to metro taxis. They are a genuine taxi firm. Have used them a number of times and always been ok. They do the Uber type thing where they inform you of which taxi is coming and reg number.

I live in bolton Metro cars have a bit of a dodgy reputation....
