Does anyone put zoflora in floor steam cleaner?

I felt the water smelt stale even when cleaned out and put in fresh.

So I put some zoflora in. I don't feel like I've been poisoned. It just smells lovely.

Have I inflicted chemical warfare on myself?

Placemarking. The instructions on mine say don't put anything other than water into it, as it can damage the mechanism, so I have never tried. I'd be interested to know whether you can safely add Zoflora.

Youmadorwhat · 02/12/2018 11:03

Yes 🙈 it smelt good it was only half a capful

Heuschrecke · 02/12/2018 11:05

I've put a wee drop (or rather diluted with the water) and it does smell great, but I think it's actually supposed to be bad for the pipes - and whatnot - in the steam cleaner, it could possibly degrade the innards, but don't quote me on that one!

Good idea, I can’t see it doing any harm, I normally spray the floor with flash Spray or something then use the steam cleaner as a way of not putting anything in it but still getting the cleaning product smell!

ChocolateTearDrops · 02/12/2018 11:06

I use it in my hard floor cleaner, makes it smell lovely.

I also put a drop down the plug hole when cleaning the kitchen sink, makes the kitchen smell like I have deep cleaned it

IHaveAPen · 02/12/2018 11:08

Well my previous one, vax, said you could use smelly stuff but ONLY their brand of expensive shite made for that model Hmm

TBH I only paid about £15 for the steamer so if it slowly breaks I'm not too fussed.

I guess I was more worried about chemicals?

Am a zoflora addict Blush

I read you shouldn't add to the water so I added a few drops to the microfibre pad.

Pasithea · 02/12/2018 11:11

I put essential oils on pad.

kmc1111 · 02/12/2018 11:20

Some steam mops explode if filled with certain cleaning products. More steam than it can handle gets built up then bang. It happened to one of my mine after I put in Dettol floor cleaner with the water.

A tiny amount is very unlikely to result in that, but still, wouldn’t recommend it. Just put it on the pad or directly on the floor.

Does it have a replaceable water filter? If the water seems stale that might need changing.

fieryginger · 02/12/2018 11:27

I did once, but was told by a friend that it broke hers. The stain in the water compartment is still there, so I've stopped doing it. Spraying the floor with it, in a separate bottle, before steaming cleaning, is a genius idea though. I shall be stealing that idea, forthwith 😊

Haven't been able to get my mitts on the cinnamony flavour one yet.

BifsWif · 02/12/2018 11:28

I used to but it broke my steam mop.

I spray it on the floor or microfibre cloth instead.

Youmadorwhat · 02/12/2018 11:40

Wooops!! Note to self spray the floor instead 🤣

TheQueef · 02/12/2018 11:43

In theory Zoflora will perish the rubber seals.

I've never had a cleaner long enough to perish before it konks out.

TheQueef · 02/12/2018 11:44

Wipe it neat on to the back of radiators.
Smells like you did the whole house.

BoringSoup · 02/12/2018 12:41

I used to have a steam mop but it ruined the floors, Zoflora or no Zoflora, so I changed to a spray mop.
I use Zoflora in that. It originally came with a bottle of cleaner, but when it ran out, I used one cap of Zoflora and then filled the rest of the bottle with water. It makes the kitchen smells gorgeous.
I have just bought the lemon zest Zoflora instead of my usual linen one for a change.

isseywithcats · 02/12/2018 13:02

i put a small capful of zoflora in my electric carpet cleaner (vax) and my carpets smell fab when ive finished

MrsPMT23 · 02/12/2018 13:04

I wouldn't - it perished the rubber seals on mine!

DoveSecret · 02/12/2018 14:53

I did and I wouldn’t steam. It was a week old and it stopped working so cleaned it out well and took it back to Tesco to get a replacement.

notsodimwit · 02/12/2018 15:25

I did and it discoloured the plastic I now put the nice smelling water you buy to put inside irons

BertBox · 02/12/2018 15:52

I always put a bit in, and it's been fine. I'm not too bothered if it slowly knackers it though. I also put it in the iron (not neat!).

MissMarplesKnitting · 02/12/2018 15:53

It'll break your steam mop!

Spray some onto the pad on the bottom of you need to.

MrsEddieVedder · 02/12/2018 16:31

Essential oils on the pad...

Billoddiesbeard · 02/12/2018 19:00

I've used a small amount of zoflora, about a capful, diluted in the water chamber of my my shark steam mop for about the last 4 years (all hard floors steam cleaned at least 2 x weekly). No problems so far and it makes my house smell lovely and clean.

Life0fBrian · 02/12/2018 19:36

I’ve dropped 3-4 drops of essential oils in mine many times...it’s still going...
