Suspicious neighbour activities

She moved in recently (6months or so)
Doesn't go out, told one of our neighbours she has mental health problems and therefore doesn't like to socialise. So I thought that explained it.

Every second, sometimes third weekend she has blaring music on and about 3-4 men arrive at dusk and leave at 6am.

The music is very loud on some nights, but seems like it's just on to mask sounds.

She's quite young, about 18-25. Doesn't go out shopping. No other friends come or leave.

She's had extensive work done in her council house, there's been drilling as recently as last week. Seems like a construction site.

She lives in the flat above me and whenever the entrance door slams shut downstairs, without fail she walks to her window to check who it is. Without fail!! I don't know what/who she expects to see give no one comes to visit.

I really suspect they're filming porn or there's prostitution going on.

I've seen the men the come to her house and they have me thinking twice about knocking her door to complain about noise.

Who should I report noise levels and my suspicions to? Also is this normal youth behaviour? I thought they prefer going out???

Sounds like she has been trafficked.

penisbeakers · 02/12/2018 04:51

That sounds extremely suspicious and I'd be calling the police to report a possible vulnerable woman at risk of exploitation.

scamander · 02/12/2018 04:58

as far as I'm aware she lives on her own and seems like she's in it with no apparent coercion

Police case whatever the case? I wish there was a recording option on mumsnet. Can't sleep because of the noise.

Is the music loud enough to make a noise complaint to the police?

scamander · 02/12/2018 05:01

Yes. Most definitely

I would be phoning 101 and the council environmental health about the noise. If you can record it for them to hear.

Alfie190 · 02/12/2018 05:14

Why don't you just go and talk to her.

Gunpowder · 02/12/2018 05:14

Poor woman. Yes I’d call 101 about her and the council about the noise too.

Weenurse · 02/12/2018 06:21

As PP suggest, police and council

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 02/12/2018 06:23

I would suspect trafficking as well. :(

Storm4star · 02/12/2018 06:41

Wow, people do like to jump to conclusions! If she was being trafficked it wouldn’t be happening only every 2 or 3 weeks. That wouldn’t be making her traffickers much money! I had a friend years ago who had quite a few male friends, nothing sexual going on. They went to her house quite often to smoke weed! Not to have sex! She’s young and she plays loud music, pretty common I’d say! Not sure why you’d make the leap that they’re filming porn because of it! Absolutely complain about the noise but I think you’re making a pretty big leap with regards to your suspicions.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 02/12/2018 06:45

I don’t see anything suspicious here. Annoying noise, yes, but nothing suspicious.

Mumtoboy123 · 02/12/2018 06:48

Noise is the councils issue. The recurrant men, construction work, music to mask sound did first suggest something sexual going on but it sound consensual. If youre concerned, phone 101 and they can go and have a chat with her in her sex dungeon.

Nat6999 · 02/12/2018 07:05

I've got a Chinese lady lives above me, I suspect that she is a working girl, the intercom goes every night to different men & all we hear is very energetic sex & banging around. On a Saturday morning an elderly Chinese man calls & I hear arguing & door slamming, I wonder if he is her pimp come to collect the money. She looks like butter wouldn't melt, all innocent, but looks can be deceiving.

Alfie190 · 02/12/2018 07:18

I also don't understand the leap to trafficking. If she was being trafficked she would surely have had plenty of opportunity to escape and she would be having daily visitors not every three weeks.

I also don't understand why people would call police, council etc without first speaking to the neighbour herself. Ridiculous over reactions on here.

hmmwhatatodo · 02/12/2018 07:44

How does she look? Have you spoken to her?

scamander · 02/12/2018 09:09

I tried to initiate conversations several times. She's curt. Once I received a package on her behalf, she was in but just hadn't heard the door.
Knocked the door, grabbed the package before I could get in a word.

Took out my dog once while she was in the garden. Stood up to leave saying she's a cat person.

Knocked her door once, didn't open the door despite me hearing her walking around.

There's obviously sounds of people dtd. No smell of weed.

I honestly wanted to knock the door but feel intimidated by the men she sees.

She looks very young, frail and skinny. She doesn't look helpless rather looks like she's ready to fight lol. Has the 'don't talk to me look'.

Obviously I could have imagined a whole scenario in my head but....

BitOutOfPractice · 02/12/2018 09:16

You can hear people having sex above the music?

LuluBellaBlue · 02/12/2018 09:18

The only concern here is loud noise keeping you awake - that’s not ok from any neighbour.
The rest is none of your business and your guesses / assumptions!

scamander · 02/12/2018 09:33

@BitOutOfPractice yes!!

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 02/12/2018 09:36

That must be very loud sex if the music is as loud as you say!

LaurieFairyCake · 02/12/2018 09:39

Well it sounds like every couple of weeks she's into group sex for money

I'm guessing the conditions she has don't allow much spare money or ability to work Sad

scamander · 02/12/2018 09:43

@BitOutOfPractice it's why I thought it could be recorded. It's in the sitting room.

I just don't like the dodgy characters about and the noise obviously.

OP posts:
scamander · 02/12/2018 09:46

@LaurieFairyCake it's pretty sad because she looks like she needs help but unwilling to talk to anyone.

I didn't report her all this time thinking, her friends are quite thoughtful. They know she can't/ won't leave the house and come over to keep her entertained.

Turns out it's always men and involves dtd at about 4am. Before that they're chatting and walking around quite a bit.
