Volunteer within the NHS

The Daily Mail has joined forces with the NHS to encourage volunteers to work at their local hospital. Sorry for the link, here, but it seems a great idea. I've signed up.

Doesn’t seem like a good idea to me. They are preventing people getting jobs and essentially undercutting paid workers.

Contact the volunteers coordinator at your local hospital, far simpler.

Sadly initiatives like this result in people signing up with no intention of long term commitment.

@schopenhauer, there is no money in the NHS. They aren't going to employ people to sit and chat to patients or wheel a library cart around. The voluntary jobs are not replacing paid workers.

@Bombardier25966, you have to sign up for six months, with this scheme. If I signed up at my local hospital as you suggest, that wouldn't make me more likely to stick it out. There's always a drop out problem with volunteers.

I signed up as well. Looking forward to it
