Albania

Has anyone been to Albania on holiday? I'm looking at flying to Corfu but heading over to Albania on the ferry for a week. Anyone been ?

We went on a day trip from Corfu many years ago (1995) and I am sure it has changed a lot since then. Having said that, one day (spent in Sarandë and Butrint) was plenty and a week sounds like a long time, in a place which so far as I know is still not all that geared up to visitors.

That's amazing- thanks. We did Croatia last year and it felt too touristy so I thought Albania may give us the same beautiful water but without the tourists!

I went on a day trip to Sarande from Corfu in about 1991, the country had only just started allowing tourists in and it was like travelling back in time 50+ years (no cars, virtually no shops etc). A friend spent a few days there a couple of years ago and enjoyed it, things have changed a lot.

I'm just hoping to have a really cheap holiday so fingers crossed the sea should be enough to amuse the kids
