I ordered from an Irish company who use DHL Express as their delivery provider. I can't fault the supplier - they had the parcel at the depot early last week, the day after I placed the order. DHL have had the parcel for three days. On each day I received an email advising that the parcel would be delivered by the end of the day. They can't give a time slot - it's just 9 until 5pm. The first day I waited in and no-one came. I phoned the contact centre and got the delivery updated with instructions that the parcel could be left by the back door.
Second day, another email and another no-show. When I checked the tracking status later on, the CF of a courier had updated to day that delivery had been attempted but the "premises was closed". My DH was working from home so there was someone home all day. I believe that the courier ran out of time and rather than be honest, lied and said that they had attempted delivery on the outstanding parcels. From what I've seen on TrustPilot, this is not an uncommon event. Now I have to re-arrange delivery for Monday when the parcel will more than likely not arrive again. Why are there no weekend deliveries, why not arrange for after hours deliveries if there's a backlog? It's the worst service I've ever had from a delivery company.
I understand that this is a busy time of year, but it can't come as a big surprise to DHL that there will be a lot more parcels to be delivered before Christmas. The other delivery companies that I have experience of all seem to be managing OK, most offer time slots and will leave the parcel with a neighbour or in a secure location if they can't make delivery. John Lewis drivers work late if they can't get through the deliveries scheduled during working hours.
How is it possible that such a useless incompetent company can still be in business? I'm so frustrated and no-one at DHL will take responsibility.
