DHL Express - beyond terrible service

I ordered from an Irish company who use DHL Express as their delivery provider. I can't fault the supplier - they had the parcel at the depot early last week, the day after I placed the order. DHL have had the parcel for three days. On each day I received an email advising that the parcel would be delivered by the end of the day. They can't give a time slot - it's just 9 until 5pm. The first day I waited in and no-one came. I phoned the contact centre and got the delivery updated with instructions that the parcel could be left by the back door.

Second day, another email and another no-show. When I checked the tracking status later on, the CF of a courier had updated to day that delivery had been attempted but the "premises was closed". My DH was working from home so there was someone home all day. I believe that the courier ran out of time and rather than be honest, lied and said that they had attempted delivery on the outstanding parcels. From what I've seen on TrustPilot, this is not an uncommon event. Now I have to re-arrange delivery for Monday when the parcel will more than likely not arrive again. Why are there no weekend deliveries, why not arrange for after hours deliveries if there's a backlog? It's the worst service I've ever had from a delivery company.

I understand that this is a busy time of year, but it can't come as a big surprise to DHL that there will be a lot more parcels to be delivered before Christmas. The other delivery companies that I have experience of all seem to be managing OK, most offer time slots and will leave the parcel with a neighbour or in a secure location if they can't make delivery. John Lewis drivers work late if they can't get through the deliveries scheduled during working hours.

How is it possible that such a useless incompetent company can still be in business? I'm so frustrated and no-one at DHL will take responsibility.

Had a terrible experience with DHL. Ended up making a formal complaint to get my money back. Caused me no end of grief in the meantime. They were terrible!

We had an issue last week, some mthing we needed urgently for Christmas Fair, ordered 1 day delivery. Tried to deliver after 3 days at 8.15am, following day tried to deliver again at 8.15am. Phoned to say don't deliver between 8-8.30 as I and none of the neighbours will be in. Anyway following day attempted delivery at 8.20.

I didbpoint out that common sense would suggest that maybe varying the route each day may result in more deliveries being made. But we never got the order and it was sent back to Baker Ross.

Feel your pain. Placed an order on Monday this week. Paid for next day delivery. Heart sunk when I realised it was DHL. Got an email Tue, Wed, & Thu to say 'delivery was attempted'. No it fucking wasn't. Finally got delivered yesterday. I hate DHL.

Yeah, it's the lying about the attempted delivery that makes me more furious than anything else. How can they possibly think it's acceptable to conduct business in this way? I will never trust a DHL courier after this experience, and I won't ever order from a company that uses them as a delivery provider.
