Day 4 now and he's bsrking non stop more at night so hardly any sleep plus a streaming cold. Off school for 3 days.

Dosing him up on neurpfen, strepsils, warm and cold drinks, albus oil nasal stick and drops in pillow.

Any advice on what to give for the cough? He's 13

Barking? Mostly at night? Sounds like croup in which case meds are needed

Could it be croup?

Have him sleep propped up, maybe with a window open.

He is likely too old for croup at 13 but he may well be getting post nasal drip. You are doing the right things. Warm shower before bed so the steam loosens everything and get the nose clear and then as PP prop him up.

Cough = pholcodeine linctus
Nose = sudafed
Sore throat = dequadin throat lozenges
Aches and pains = paracetamol and ibruprofen alternated
Lots of water to flush the bugs out

Make sure you look at the dosage of all of the above before giving it as there will be a limited amount you can give in 24 hours.

Top 2: get over the counter and ask for strongest version of Sudafed (there are 2 types of drug, one is stronger than the other)

Thanks, it's the barking cough that is annoying for him. Phlem is white not green so no infection
