Hi all, I am staying in Ilford east London. My husband is working in central London and I got a job offer to work in Milton Keynes. So now we are in dilemma whether can we move to Melton Keynes or any good places with good primary schools in between Euston and Milton Keynes. Please suggest me some good place to live with our kid.

Thanks a lot 😊

Leighton Buzzard?

Ya2013 · 30/11/2018 21:36

Thanks... any good primary school in that area? And how about the area ?

LadyPasserine · 30/11/2018 21:36

Milton Keynes or London?

Maybe one of you travel and not the other?

If you have a healthy budget then St Albans would be good, lots of good schools.

User1983 · 30/11/2018 21:39

The commute from MK to central London is short. You get good sized properties for your money there.

Ya2013 · 30/11/2018 21:39

Thank you ladypasserine 😊 if we could able to find the place in between, both will be happy 😃

Ya2013 · 30/11/2018 21:40

Thank you Avegemitesandwich, we will consider this

NataliaOsipova · 30/11/2018 21:41

Agree St Albans is very nice. Or Harpenden? Schools meant to be very good round there too; lots of young families.

Ya2013 · 30/11/2018 21:42

Thanks User1983, my office is in MK central. Which is the best place to live and school in MK

mrsed1987 · 30/11/2018 21:42

Mk to london on the train 30 mins. Lots of good school in mk. MK isnt cheap but is cheaper than london obvs!

ilovekale · 30/11/2018 21:46

St Albans. Milton Keynes may be cheaper than london but I find it soul less (no offence to anyone living there)

Gazelda · 30/11/2018 21:51

While St Albans is lovely, it's not on direct train line between Euston and MK.
What about Kings langley?
Much depends on budget, what sort of property you're looking for, rent vs own etc.

Processedpea · 30/11/2018 21:58

Hemel apsley dunstable ?

SockQueen · 30/11/2018 22:10

The quickest commute is MK central direct to London. Going anywhere in between (Leighton Buzzard, Hemel Hempstead etc) means both of you getting slower trains or in some cases (St Albans) having to drive as there's no direct line to MK from there.

I live in MK, having previously lived in London. It's very different, and yes, some people think it's soulless, but I find it very convenient and enjoy it here. The nearest nice residential areas to the station are Loughton and Great Holm, both of which are more expensive as a result. Don't know about schools in that area of town though.

Avegemitesandwich · 30/11/2018 22:31

Would you be able to drive to work OP or do you need to use the train as well?

Heuschrecke · 01/12/2018 06:20

Berkhamsted

SinglePringle · 01/12/2018 06:22

There are fast trains from leighton Buzzard to Central London (Euston) and MK.

Berkhamsted and Kings Langley are also nice (Berko is lovely) and on same train line.

Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions 😊. googled a lot and based on the travel time and expenses I am thinking as ‘LadyPasserine’ said, it’s better one person can stays and one can travel 😂

Please friends, advice me to select some good area to stay as well as good primary schools in MK.

I prefer to rent initially, and my kid is in Year 1 programme.

Thanks a lot.

Ya2013 · 22/01/2019 21:06

Hi finally we are moving to Euston. . looking school for my Year 1 kid and visited Copenhagen and have appointment in Belsize primary school next week. As well as applied for King’s cross Academy. But I don’t have any idea on those schools. Could you guys help me to select the good schools in that area based on your experience ?
