This time of year can be really difficult and bring up a lot of emotions.
I thought it would be nice to share things that we are happy about.

Ds, who has had ongoing speech problems, had a certificate this week for being one of the top of the class for speaking welsh.

I just got a promotion and although I'm still on a very low wage I finally feel appreciated for the work I'm putting in.

Great news about your promotion, well done, and lovely for your DS Smile Welsh sounds like - tricky language WITHOUT speech problems!

I’m happy because we are getting a takeaway tonight and tomorrow my friend and I are going on our annual Christmas shopping/boozy day out.

I'm happy because I've been following the Organised Mum Method for keeping on top of the house, and it's working so well!! We have no cleaning to do this weekend at all Grin

And DH and I are getting dressed up and going out tonight so a lovely start to the weekend that way as well.

formerbabe · 30/11/2018 17:50

That's brilliant about your ds...one of my DC has a speech disorder so I know how proud you must be!

I'm really happy it's the weekend tomorrow and I don't have to get up early.

My oh has just done a long outstanding repair in the house which cheered me up.

I am also really happy and excited about the Christmas presents I've got my kids... nothing especially expensive but lots of bits and bobs I know they'll love.

Ginazon · 30/11/2018 17:52

Making new friends at university. I’ve had a lonely couple of years and it’s so good to be with likeminded people Smile

Annandale · 30/11/2018 17:54

Going out on a city walk with friends tonight.
Seeing my sister tomorrow.
Joined a sports club recently after 25 years retired... being involved again was truly fantastic.

WhoTFIsAlanBrazil · 30/11/2018 17:55

Happy that my family and me are all healthy, and that we don't have to worry about being able to afford food of shelter. In today's Britain this isn't a given and I realise how truly lucky we are.

And on a less serious note I am happy to bd going out with friends tonight (a rarity) and that I get to open my naice advent calendar tomorrow Smile

joystir59 · 30/11/2018 18:02

I've got a lovely OH who is away this weekend and I'm missing her and realising how lucky I am to have this feeling.

lrh3891 · 30/11/2018 18:09

My dc is a wonder and a joy every day. And not quite old enough to be excited about Christmas but old enough to love the twinkly lights and the songs and the mince pies I expect

Other than that- nothing, I'm afraid. I've had a difficult, sad, lonely year and there are no signs of it getting easier. :(

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 30/11/2018 18:15

Lovely weekend with lovely friends last weekend

And my dog.

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 30/11/2018 18:16

I can finally get rid of the day bed I have had for a year. Got it for pain reasons to rest during the day. No longer needed. Off it goes !!!!!!! Anyone want to buy a day bed 😂

Thisisit777 · 30/11/2018 18:20

That my episode of depression is over

justaboutsurviving · 30/11/2018 18:28

Some really lovely things here. I'm sorry @lrh3891 I hope things look up soon.

Someone I know though my work has achieved something massive, despite having a really bad year in lots of ways. I've been closely involved and am so proud of them.

My DC are very happy, and even though they're adults now, it makes me happy too.

I do not have to go to a city centre this side of Christmas - that is making me very happy indeed.

MamTDM · 30/11/2018 18:45

That my dad is recovering from an illness that we thought, this time last week, was going to take him from us within days. That my poorly dog has started eating again. And that a small building job I've been waiting to have done for over ten years has finally been finished today, after a long week of making endless cuppas for the builders, and it looks lovely.

The family of Long Tailed Tits that visit my garden.

Been a bit of a difficult year both at work and home and yesterday was my mums funeral (69) but woke up to flowers from a friend on the doorstep, a walk on the beach in the sunshine with family today and then coming home to a warm house and sitting on the sofa with a Nespresso and turning to see the Long Tailed Tits fly in made my heart swell.

Sitranced · 30/11/2018 19:20

I can afford the heating this year. Makes all the difference during the winter months.

MotherWol · 30/11/2018 19:23

I realised last week that this time two years ago my sister was at her lowest point and was planning to end her life. She’s now doing so much better and I’m so glad we didn’t lose her.

My DD has her share of toddler tantrums but she’s still an awful lot of fun.

We’ve booked a pre-Christmas city break, just the three of us, to my favourite city on earth. I can’t really afford it, but we’ve not had a holiday since DD was born and I’m really looking forward to it!

Lambbone · 30/11/2018 19:29

Riding lessons. I have started to learn at the age of 55.

I am absolutely revelling in being a size 12 having lost over 4 stone this year.

DM died this summer and dsis and I are very pleased with how our dad is doing.

goforkyourself · 30/11/2018 19:50

toomanygreys · 30/11/2018 19:56

LuvMyBoyz · 30/11/2018 20:49

Mum is visiting me after my traumatic time with recent cancer diagnosis. Lovely to concentrate on something else for a bit.

Mumshappy · 30/11/2018 20:52

notsurewhatshappening · 30/11/2018 20:55

Tough day at work today but my colleagues were supportive and I know I coped well. My dad told me he was proud of me following in his footsteps on the phone this evening. Tomorrow I'm doing my hobby in the afternoon. I have maltesers 😊
