A question about holidays without your DP

Just had a conversation with a lady at work about this, and am curious what others thingk..

Been with DP 5.5 years, no children, unmarried but live together. Never been on holiday together, as have elderly DDog that DP doesn't want to leave. Her DM has said let's go away for two weeks next summer. She is worried about discussing with DP, even though their friends do the same (one goes away without the other, for various reasons).

I said just ask him, what does ho think/does he have a problem with it? And then do it!

Is that wrong?!

YANBU. I really think it depends on the couple. I've been away for long weekends with friends without DH although we always spend our long summer holiday together. I know some couples only like to spend holidays with each other.

However, if my DH refused to go away because of the dog or similar, I don't see how he could be in a position to tell me not to go away with my family/friends! That would be very unfair!
